Brad Scott’s Response… Hilarious.

We’ve talked a number of times on this blog about ‘One Law.’  Frankly, I’ve avoided directly addressing those who would divide the believers in Messiah with the false doctrine of ‘Bilateral ecclesiology’ or ‘Two Law.’  brad-wildbranchBrad Scott has a little more moxie as he calls it what I have felt in my heart…  Racism.

Here is the beginning of his short, but hilarious and spot-on assessment of the recent attempts by a few misguided men to dissuade Gentiles from keeping Torah.  Enjoy!

One Law, Two Sticks Position Paper

Brad’s response

For some years now this ministry has focused its attention on two important issues to us in our Father’s kingdom, the next generation and unity in the body of Messiah. These two issues have been a major part of every lecture, conference or seminar I have participated in for the last five years. A number of issues over the years have come up that I vehemently oppose but chose to ignore for the sake of that unity and to be an example for our young people as they carry on what our Father is doing in these last days. But there comes a time when something comes along that is so self serving and so incredibly repugnant that I have to speak my mind. I am speaking of the publication of another missionary position paper on how wrong and unbiblical everyone but the authors of the paper are. I am speaking of the recent long article put out by Continue reading

Passover, the four ‘R’s.

I was never a big fan of using the like lettered headings to help remember points, simply because too many pastors overuse it.  It was usually a source of irritation…  but, since I almost NEVER use the trick, and these came together so easily….  Okay.  Sorry excuse.

As I have pondered Passover, there seem to me to be four major ‘R’s that should be part of observance in order to get the most out of it!

Passover is to be a time of:

Rejoicing!

We are to revel in the great freedom and salvation won on this date in our annual calendar!  From Lot’s rescue, to the Sons of Israel from bondage in Egypt to our deliverance from the power of sin and death!  All of these are won as a result of the Covenant with Abraham, ultimately worked out in Yeshua our Messiah!!

Refreshment

Every Feast of Yahweh is a holy convocation, and most a special Sabbath day.  It is a time of refreshment in Him and His promises!  The Feasts are a pattern that annually walks us through HIS work and remind us that HE is in control and performing HIS plan of redemption in the earth!

Remembrance

In our rejoicing and refreshing, we celebrate as a remembrance the suffering of those who were in bondage…  Lot, the Sons of Israel, us, etc…  We are reminded that we cannot save ourselves, but need a Savior and Redeemer.  We remember where we have come from and worship for each work of Salvation!

Rehearsal

As we saw yesterday, this feast has yet another fulfillment portended in Scripture.  There will be another Exodus so much greater than Egypt that Egypt will no more be spoken of!!  Each time we celebrate we look back, but must also approach with the understanding that ‘this could be the year’ for that Greater Exodus!!  Therefore, it is a dress rehearsal…  We need to consider it seriously enough that the rehearsal aspect is not lost on us!

Passover Apologetics…

Someone over in a YouTube comment just gave me a bunch of food for thought!!

Zachary Bauer of New2Torah just posted a neat short video on the Greater Exodus.  He quickly and concisely summarizes what I already knew.  Good watch…  but a comment got the thought juices going!

I recommend the video, but here is the comment that really made me think: Continue reading

My Paradigm Shift Continues…

Recently, while listening to a new interview by Hanoch Young and Ken Rank (previously introduced here) one of the two made a significant statement that struck a deep chord within me.  As they are traveling and sharing with Ephraim, they are in a position to have a really good snapshot of where we are and what some of the remedies might be.

In the interview I heard the other evening, one of them said, ‘The problem with Messianics is that they view themselves as a religion (or religious group) rather than as a nation.  The Torah is for a nation and God is in the process of restoring a nation.’

Lights and bells went off!

Why had I not realized the deeper implications of this?  We’ve talked about the surface points, but it had not really settled into me until that moment.  Let’s look at some Scripture and get a better handle on this…

Yahweh’s promise to Abraham, stated in Genesis 12:2 says, “I will make you a great nation…”  The promise was confirmed to Israel through Moshe on Mt. Sinai as recorded in Exodus 19:5-6,

Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My [a]own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.”

The Godly Legacy of Passover, Part I

The Godly Legacy of Passover, Part I.

I had planned to put together a post or two defending the Christian observance of Passover as not only Biblical, but the practice of the Apostles and First Century Body of believers in Yeshua, both Jew and Gentile.  Time has been the challenge.

Here, in a two part series, Al McCarn of The Barking Fox does an excellent job presenting and defending in a fairly short couple posts.  I’ll get to Paul’s practice in the next day or so.  He is clearly recorded as participating in the Feasts of the Lord in multiple places in the Book of Acts as well as elsewhere…

Simply, it is time for all who believe in the Law of the Lord and who believe in the Atoning death of Meshichenu (our Messiah) to be preparing for Pesach.

Cheesemaking 201…

I thought I’d share a non-theological post today…  The ‘fridge is full of milk again, so this post will be about cheesemaking on the farm.

Long story short, for some time we have been concerned about our food sources and have desired to learn some of the old ways.  We had a small homestead/hobby farm, but were

Section of 18 month old cheddar and the last morsel of a divine manchego... Going, going, gone. :(

led of the Father to sell last year and presently we rent a small farm to keep a few goats and chickens, but do not grow nearly as much produce or fruit as we had a year ago.  The farmer’s market and select local producers are now sources so we can monitor more closely the sources and quality of our food.

Besides produce, we began raising dairy goats (Nubians and Nubian/Saanen crosses) five or six years ago.  Whenever we are getting ‘overrun’ by fresh milk, we will make soap and cheeses.  I began with simple goat milk chevre, but ever-loving a challenge, I soon graduated to cheddars and eventually the occasional blue cheese or Camembert.  Today, because a friend has been giving us gallons of milk from their Jersey cow, appropriately named Betsy, I have seven gallons of milk in the refrigerator and a need for space before this evening’s goat milking.  So, let’s make some cheese! Ha Am Sheli העם שלי (My People)

A friend sent me this video with the following note:

Lazer Lloyd’s – Ha’am Sheli (My People) – Lloyd released as part of the Jewish Unity Music Project, which he created to spread awareness of the conflicts within different groups in Judaism. The viral music video has more than half a million views, and the number is increasing. Lloyd says the song is not meant to preach but to be an anthem and make people understand that “we must learn to get it together”

May we be mindful that it is critical that light illuminates darkness in this hour, no matter where we are geographically on this earth. The greater amount of darkness, adversity and oppression, the greater the amount of potential capacity for the light. Because oppression exists it gives us the freedom to CHOOSE the opposite, turning the negative into the positive. We each carry a cadence of truth the world needs to know, and Lazer’s message is playing ‘a profound chord of truth’ because it’s coming from the level of his heart. May the universal language of music continue to bring unity. We hear your guitar speak Lazer! we DO!

Just as Lazer encourages Judah to ‘get it together,’ I pray Ephraim does the same!

Shalom!

etzmitzvot.com How cool is this??

Judah Gabriel Himango over at Kineti L’Tziyon is a software writer and has just started a WAY cool project that will be most helpful as it comes together!! He gives the details in his post titled Introducing EtzMitzvot.com – Rebooting the Greatest Commandments Project.

CRAZY! Pope Francis to Be Seen Worldwide In 3D on April 27th!

Fascinating!!  Here is a video that is VERY interesting…  Timing with Blood Moons beginning just days earlier make this interesting as well.  Commenter also mentiones the doves killed, which we covered here with images.  The connecting detail I was not aware of is that the children releasing those doves were Ukrainian!!

Would LOVE thoughts and input.  We’ll have to look for more info to further verify!

Breaking the Sabbath… another way…

It occurred to me the other day as I was reading some Scripture that even IF the Sabbath was moved to Sunday, and IF Christendom need only keep the Ten Commandments, they are still in continual violation of the fourth!  Now, we have proved over and over that these two allowances are patently false, but, for the sake of argument, let’s allow them for a moment.

Christendom claims to keep the 4th-commandmentSabbath, even if NOT on the seventh day as we are clearly commanded more than seven times.  However, despite their claims to the contrary, Christendom breaks the fourth commandment in another highly predictable way….  Notice,

Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath ([a]for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

John gives an interesting detail in this verse.  Besides the weekly Sabbaths, there are some Sabbaths that are Continue reading

Hanoch Young Speaking in Greenville, SC, April 28th.

Prophetically  it is clear that God is not done with the Jewish people. Ultimately, God will unite ‘all’ of those who are HIS. Hanoch Young an Orthodox Jew is a man who appreciates this Two-Sticksaspect of God’s redemptive work and sees Christians without condition as “family”

Come hear Hanoch Young as he visits with us from Israel, while on tour speaking at various locations in the US. Hanoch, originally a native New Yorker, fulfilled his dream to live in Israel where he is a licensed Tour Guide. However, his true passion for the last 20 years has been to encourage and network with Christian Zionist communities throughout the US. Having been ‘called’ to reach out to thank and support Christian lovers of Israel, he is coming to South Carolina to share some messages that every Bible Believer needs to hear direct from what he always refers to as the “Chosen Land”

Hanoch feels that WE are the “Watchmen on the Walls” that the Prophet Isaiah speaks of, and he has a program of what each of us can do to help support Israel, the Holy Land. Please don’t miss this opportunity to hear an update about the situation in Israel and what it means to our community.  We are feeling the great calling to help Israel – come hear Hanoch’s explanation of why that is….and his thoughts about the spiritual kinship between our communities.

Sabra Joines, April 2014

Hanoch Young, whom we have discussed several times, will be returning to the US for a speaking tour in late April and early May 2014.  As soon as I have his complete itinerary, I’ll post it with as much detail as I can get, but in the meantime, for those in the Southeast, especially South Carolina and Western North Carolina, I wanted to go ahead and get on your calendar for his engagement in Greenville, SC as this promises to be a big event. How to Divide a Family… A Thought.

Recently, I happened across a Bethany Christian Services magazine and was reading a couple articles about adoption, and no, that is not something we are considering at this time.  But, a point in one of the articles prompted some thought about family unity and division.

IMG_1112A short conversation this morning in the comments section of another blog connected the thoughts to the One Law v. Two Law debates/discussions I have had before!

A much debated subject in the Messianic movement is whether the Torah is just for the Jews, or is it the revelation of righteousness for all mankind.  We’ve looked at this topic multiple times from various angles, a list of links below, but here is another thought:  ‘How to Divide a Family…’  Simple, have different standards and rewards for the adopted children as you have for the natural born.

Seriously, think about it!  If you had a child and then you adopted another child, would it not cause bitterness, anger, jealousy, resentment and myriad other sins if you treated the two radically differently in terms of rules and expectations? Continue reading
