A Jew who believes in Yeshua is still a Jew!!

Why is the Messianic Jewish community persecuted by religious organizations?
Does the faith in the Jewish Jesus of Nazareth causes them to switch to another religion?

Pray for our brothers in Israel who are persecuted for believing in Yeshua!  Pray also for this

Looking for Excellent Messianic Music?

Judah Gabriel Himango, owner and developer of Chavah Messianic Radio, has just posted a terrific review of Troy Mitchell‘s latest album, Light of the World, on his blog, Kineti L’Tziyon.  (I just wanted to see how many links I could put in one sentence…  That was fun, and all great links!!)

In addition to excellent commentary and preferences, Judah’s review has clips from each song on the album, but here is a terrific tune from a previous album…  -Guess I HAVE to get this one as well!  So moving.

So, go read the review, listen to the clips and then order a copy or two…

Tell me what you think!  Personally, I can not wait until my copies get here!!  The whole album sounds AWESOME!!

Completed Christian?

If a ‘completed Jew’ has found

Yeshua,

what does that make a Christian who has found

Torah?

Revelation 12:17 says, Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

Revelation 14:12 says, This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

Out of the Body Experience… Orthodox Messianic Blog post!

A couple days ago we looked at and began discussing an older blog post from Orthodox Messianic Judaism, a favorite ‘stop’ of mine.  Well, our discussion morphed into a discussion of the place of the Gentile…

Then, Peter, over at OMJ, posts this dynamite response to Jacob Fronczak!!

Out of the Body Experience: Why Exclusion from Israel Must Also Mean Exclusion From the Body of Messiah (Response to Jacob Fronczak)

I have read that post three times and the clarity and succinctness are excellent!  The points are so very clear!!

Please go read and process!!

Pope Francis Heading to Holy Land With Rabbi and Imam as Interfaith Wing Men

This might be worth keeping an eye on….

This article from the Jewish Daily Forward begins:

(JTA) — With a rabbi and a Muslim sheik as his travel companions, Pope Francis is heading to the Middle East with what he hopes will be a powerful message of interfaith respect.

w.popefrancis-051914.jpgIt will be the first time that leaders of other faiths are part of an official papal delegation. The aim is to send “an extremely strong and explicit signal” about interfaith dialogue and the “normality” of having friends of other religions, chief Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi told reporters.

Starting Saturday, the three-day pilgrimage will take the 77-year-old pontiff to Jordan, the West Bank and Israel. The packed agenda includes courtesy calls on government leaders; open-air Masses; meetings with Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious authorities; and visits to holy sites of the three religions.

The two men joining Francis are friends with whom the pope frequently collaborated when he was the archbishop of Buenos Aires: Rabbi Abraham Skorka, former rector of the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary in Buenos Aires, and Sheik Omar Abboud, a former secretary-general of the Islamic Center of Argentina.

“I don’t expect Francis to wave a magic wand and bring together Jews and Palestinians,” Skorka told the Italian Catholic newspaper Avvenire. “But his charisma and his great humility can give a powerful message of peace for the whole Middle East.”

Since being elected to the papacy in February 2013 Continue reading

the Respective Costs of Christian Anti-Judaism and Exclusionist Messianic Teachings

Recently, I have been doing more reading and studying of topics and perspectives related to the historic division between Christianity and Judaism and trying to dig more into what the correct theological understanding is of being grafted-in.  Contrary to the general respective positions of Christianity and Judaism, that each is correct and the other wrong, I continue to be pressed toward a mediatorial position where I see both parties as wrong and in fact, near mirror images of each other in willful division from the other.  Yet, logic says the common root demands a fork in the tree, a fork that happens after ‘the faith once delivered’ as witnessed throughout the Book of Acts and all Apostolic writings that support keeping Torah AND having faith in Yeshua.  (Rev. 12:17; 14:12)

In other words, the ‘faith once delivered’ was bastardized and justified AFTER the canon was closed.  Scripture was then taken out of context and/or twisted in order to blur the trail back to 35-50 CE!  But, I digress….

Here is an older article I found at a favorite blog that asks the question:

What are the Respective Costs of Christian Anti-Judaism and Exclusionist Messianic Teachings?

The Consequences of Christian Anti-Judaism

We know that Christianity is anti-Judaic. Continue reading

Antisemitism on the Rise… **updated**

An update via email is now added to the end.  Per the email’s requests, some information has been redacted from the original post.  I personally know a number of people who took the time to write this school expressing concern.  I suspect that our contact with them at least partly helped to expose something we all must guard against.

In the last 24 hours I’ve been made aware of several recent instances of antisemitism.  I’ll share one in a minute with pictures, etc.

As I checked some of my favorite blogs, Peter, at the Orthodox Messianic Blog, explains what appears to be another instance.  Indeed, are we seeing history repeat?  Here is a good video asking that very question with clear examples of this very dangerous growing trend.

Hating the Jews IS hating the Messiah!  Period!!  He is (not, was) a Jew.  Torah-teaching, Sabbath-keeping, Feast-observing, tassel-wearing, Jew.  Even today at this very moment!  No one who believes in the Messiah or in Scripture can hate the Jews.

Now, one case I received in my email:  (Name of original recipient redacted, otherwise, email reprinted in its entirety with pictures inserted) Continue reading

Rabbi Boyarin Teaching that Yeshua Kept Kosher

Excellent teaching that is clear and succinct in dealing with Mark 7:16. Rabbi Boyarin is on point! highly recommend passing this along to others!

Proclaim Liberty’s comment at 10:50 a.m. is terrific as well.

The point of the whole conversation is not to alter Torah, or to deny the tradition. The point is that we are NOT to set tradition ahead of Torah! (Nor are we to judge others who do not abide by our traditions…)

A thought from The Sabbath Debate

Fairly early in The Sabbath Debate, Jim Staley asks the question, “If man had not sinned, what day would we be celebrating for Sabbath?”

Sabbath-restInteresting!!  So simple, yet I had never thought in these terms.  The Sabbath is clearly and undeniably a Creation Ordinance.  It was given before Adam and Eve sinned!  Therefore, if all of the work of redemption (Romans 8:18-25) is to restore that which was broken/lost at Adam’s sin, then the goal is a return to Eden.

And, what is at Eden?  The seventh day Sabbath!!

This is very simple:  “If man had not sinned, what day would we be celebrating for Sabbath?”

[I found the graphic while hunting for something else…  No explanation with it, but already, I can see it opens a whole other line of thought on this topic.  Exodus 31:16-17!!]

Tales from the Bus. Parenting.

Thursday was an icky day.  No two ways about it!

I drove a field trip to Columbia and may as well have been at the helm of a submarine…  so much so that a teacher had to use an umbrella IN the bus to stay dry!  That bad!  But I’ll save that story.school bus parent

As I was making my afternoon run, I was dropping one little girl whose parents always meet her at the stop.  In fact, one is with her every morning as well, physically picking her up and putting her on the first step of the bus, or lifting her from the bottom step.  As yesterday would have it, in the fading light rain, we arrived at her stop with nobody waiting, so she hops off the bus and begins running toward the house and I thought, ‘Good for her!  Standing on her own two feet.’

Just as I began to pull away I saw dad sprint from the house with a jacket, throw it over the little girls head, presumably so she wouldn’t melt, and scoop her up to carry her the remaining ten yards to the porch.

I thought, ‘They are so going to make her into a prima dona.  Continue reading

Should Chrisitans Keep the Sabbath? Historic Debate!!

I came all the way from Washington, D.C. for this debate tonight because it is actually quite a historic event.” – Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND.

With already over 150,000 views on YouTube in only two days, this provocative and historic debate is causing Christians around the world to take a second look at the fourth commandment!

In this two-hour debate, two Christian pastors take the stage to answer one of the most important theological questions of all time: Should Christians Keep The Sabbath? This toe-to-toe debate is going to challenge everything you thought you knew about the Sabbath, as Pastor Jim Staley and Pastor Chris Rosebrough expound on dozens of relevant scriptures and extra-biblical sources to support their stances.

Practical Ways to Grow Closer to God in Messianic World

Here is an excellent and thought provoking article by Judah Gabriel Himango over at Kineti L’Tziyon!

As we have recently discussed in our fellowship as well as on this blog, we can/should be passionate about truth, but need to be measured with justice and mercy toward those who do not yet see…

Please go read and comment!

Shalom!

The Moment Jim Staley Won the Sabbath Debate

Honestly, the seventh day Sabbath is irrefutable.  It takes strange twists of tradition and doctrine as well as a healthy dose of inculcation to keep those blinders on.

Pre-Sinaitic Torah

Pre-Sinaitic Torah.

Here is a good article detailing the existence of Torah before Mt. Sinai.  We have looked at this before, but there are a couple points in here I was not familiar with!  I think the new material, or refreshment on the topic will help all of us!!

Shalom!
