Full Hanoch video that the previous compilation came from!

I did a little digging…  didn’t take much… and found the full video of Hanoch Young’s comments in the previous video I posted.

Even better, there are some terrific comments before hand by two other gentlemen:  Frank Houtz and Ken Rank (if I remember correctly..)

This will bless you tremendously, as well as challenge us all to let the Father work out the details while we practice humility and unity!

Be blessed!

Ani Yoseph! (Awesome Hanoch Young video!)

Do the students of Scripture truly understand some of prophecy?  Do we understand ‘one new man?’  Do we understand how incredible is the Father’s plan??

Currently, we are in the middle of the Torah Portions that deal with Joseph and I have been writing some posts exposing some of the prophetic nature of Joseph’s life.  Here is a terrific short video clip with Hanoch Young, Orthodox Jew, who ‘gets it.’   Our Father is doing something utterly amazing in these days!!

It is humbling and amazing to be standing on the precipice of history and having the blessing of being able to participate instead of, as our fathers did, anticipate!

Shalom!

Jesus / Yeshua as pictured in Joseph. Part 3.

Joseph is such an incredibly detailed picture of Jesus/Yeshua.  Previously, in Part 1 and Part 2, we looked at Genesis 37:1 through 41:38.  Now we’ll continue.

Please remember, this is not an exhaustive list, or complete handling of each remez, rather, the purpose is to encourage thought and individual digging.

Picking up in Genesis 41: 40

  • v. 40  “You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you…’  Pharaoh’s statement is a great picture of the roles of the Father and Yeshua.  At the name of Yeshua every knee will bow, all things are under His feet…
  • v. 41 “..I have set you over all the land of Egypt…”   Upon being raised, Yeshua was placed over all things…
  • v. 42 “..signet ring…garments of fine linen…gold necklace around his neck…”  Rev. 1:12-16 and 19:11ff relate a bit of the glorified appearance of Messiah Yeshua.
  • v. 43, 44 “‘Bow the knee’…set him over all the land…I am Pharoah, yet without your permission…”  More of the motif/connection we have been seeing.
  • v. 45 ‘Then Pharaoh named Joseph Zaphenath-paneah;’   We have seen Joseph’s appearance change.  He looked Egyptian when taken into the court. (41:14)  The appearance of Yeshua began to be changed when He was taken among the Gentiles.  Not long after, His name was changed…. Yeshua to Iesous to Jesu to Jesus.  Same person, but no longer called by His native name and no longer recognized by the Hebrew culture and context He was ‘raised’ in.  Of additional interest is that ‘Zaphenath-paneah,’ though much debated, possibly means ‘God speaks, he lives.’  How appropriate for Joseph, the ‘hidden savior’ of Israel.  Even more appropriate for Yeshua, the ‘hidden Messiah’ of Israel!
  • v. 45 ‘he gave him Asenath…’  Just as Zaphenath-paneah (Joseph) received a foreign/undesirable bride, so did Jesus (Yeshua.)  An interesting picture/parallel is Jacob who desired Rachel, but received her second.  Jesus, likewise, desired Judah/Israel, but will receive her after the ‘Gentiles’ have come in.  (Be careful not to take this remez too far, as we do see Jews among the first and a thin stream of Torah observant believers throughout history, but the general view of history supports this picture of Zaphenath-paneah receiving the foreign/Gentile/unclean bride (i.e., not of the family).
  • v. 46 ‘thirty years old…’ about the age of Yeshua when He began His ministry to ‘save the world.’
  • v. 46 ‘…and went through all the land of Egypt…’   This is a picture of Jesus going to the ‘uttermost parts’ of the earth.
  • v. 49 ‘ …stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea…’  Hmmm.  Jesus is doing the same thing.  He is in the field harvesting grain that the descendants of Abraham might be as numerous as the stars of heaven and the sand of the sea…
  • v. 50 ‘…before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph…’    Here we are before the Great Tribulation and most of Christendom believes God has two plans, two families, etc…  The Jews and the Gentiles.  The Torahkeepers and the followers of Jesus…  In fact, we later find that BOTH of Joseph’s sons are sons of Israel by grafting in (Gen. 48:14-22!!).  Both keep Torah when they come to the Mountain (Exodus and Is. 2:1-5, etc).  Right now, because at least one does not know who they are, and the other may not know who Zaphenath-paneah really is…  You get the picture.  Think this one through!
  • v. 51-52 “..God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household…God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction…”  What a terrific picture, through the names of Manasseh and Ephraim through the last 2000 years.  Indeed, Jesus has been made fruitful and has ‘forgotten’ the affliction of His father Isaac’s house…  But, He has not forgotten THEM.  Keep following this incredible story/picture!
  • v. 55 ‘…when all the land of Egypt was famished… ‘go to Joseph, whatever he says to you, you shall do!”  The time is coming, and may soon be here when the time of spiritual ‘plenty’ is over.  Even today, believers in Jesus are feeling famished and are rightly crying out to Yeshua for bread and are willing to do ‘whatever He says.’  One of the memes I see all around me as people come to a Torah observant position is that they are willing to do whatever He says…  ‘If you love Me, keep My commandments.’  If you do not understand what I am saying here, please study it out.  This blog, the Resources page, etc…
  • 42:1-2 ‘..Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt…go down and buy for us…so that we may live….’  There have been those of physical Israel who have seen the ‘Bread (of life)’ in Egypt and have bought, that they might live.  Some recognized Jesus, others have seen Yeshua.  Today, increasingly, as the famine of truth grows in the church, it is interesting that the physical sons of Jacob (Jewish) believers  in Yeshua are growing by leaps and bounds.
  • v. 3 ‘…ten brothers…’  The study of the use of ‘Jacob’ and ‘Israel’ has specific significance and is fascinating.  So is the study and understanding of ‘ten brothers,’ ‘house of Judah,’ ‘house of Israel,’ ‘Ephraim,’ ‘Joseph,’ etc as the Word of the Lord relays relates information in a sometimes cryptic way.  Here, it seems to point to the ‘Lost Sheep‘ who are coming to Yeshua (Joseph) to buy grain, but as v. 8 says, ‘they did not recognize him.’  The first coming of the brothers seems to focus on the ten tribes who do not recognize of know who Zaphenath-paneah (Joseph) really is.
  • v. 5 ‘…the sons of Israel came to buy grain…for the famine was in Canaan.’ The Jews are coming as well, even in Canaan (the Nation of Israel, today).  More on this later.  They are pictured well by Judah in the ‘second coming to Zaphenath-paneah.
  • v. 4  ‘… Jacob did not send Benjamin…”I am afraid that harm may befall him.”‘   Benjamin is a fascinating character in this story.  He does not fit in with the ‘ten brothers’ and is the youngest in the house…  More on this later.
  • v. 6-7 ‘…brothers came and bowed down…Joseph recognized them but disguised himself and spoke harshly to them…’   Judgment begins at the house of the Lord.  The Great Tribulation will shake Christendom, partly because they do NOT recognize Yeshua.  They ‘see’ Zaphenath-paneah, the Egyptian/Gentile ruler, not Joseph (Yeshua), the Hebrew Prince!
  • v. 8 ‘..Joseph recognized his brothers, although they did not recognize him…’   A picture of Christendom, today.  They think they know the Savior they are looking at (Jesus), but in reality, they do not know He is really someone different (Yeshua).
  • v. 9-10 ‘…you are spies…no my lord…’  Testing.
  • v. 11- ‘…we are all sons of one man…’   One of the great stories of the End Times will be that Jew and Gentile believers in Yeshua/Jesus will acknowledge, ‘we are all sons of one man.’  The second and equally important story is recognizing Him for who He really is (Joseph, not Zaphenath-paneah/Yeshua, not Jesus)!

There are a number of verses not directly related to the Joseph/Yeshua line in this post, but they do directly relate to the Great tribulation and the historical/prophetic picture we see in the life of Joseph.

  • v. 17 ‘…so he put them in prison for three days…’  A picture of the three and a half year tribulation?
  • v. 21 ‘…truly we are guilty concerning our brother, because we saw the distress of his soul when he pleaded with us, yet we would not listen; therefore this distress has come upon us…’  Judah, as we will see later in this series, will admit and accept responsibility for ‘selling’ Joseph/Yeshua.
  • v. 36 ‘…Simeon is no more…’ Interesting verse here where we see the prophecy of Simeon ‘disappearing.’  In fact, Simeon was absorbed by Judah, once in the land and ‘disappeared… yet, he is listed among the gates in Ezekiel 48 and among the peoples of Revelation 7.  Is his later ‘release from prison’ a prophecy of his restoration?
  • v. 38 “Jacob said, ‘My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he alone is left.  If harm should befall him on the journey you are taking, then you will bring my gray hair down to Sheol in sorrow.'” The verse definitely has some remez implications… seems to be the Father speaking and declaring that His plan WILL come to fruition lest He be broken…  Thoughts?

There are other verses in the last couple chapters, but I think we hit the high spots.  A number of the hints that we have seen are reiterated in some of the verses we skipped.

If you see something special, be sure to share in the comments.

Shalom!

Houses Built on Rock and Sand

Is your house built on the Rock?

Most do not know what that means!!  Do you?  Sure?  Keep reading.

We’ve all read the parable, and if we were raised in the church, we had multiple Sunday School or VBS lessons from the parable.  But have we ever understood what Yeshua, the Messiah, was saying?  Let’s consider for a few moments:

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. buildyourhouseuponarock-300x24025 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.  Matthew 7:24-27

It is critically important that we slow down and really focus before reading a passage we practically know by heart.  It is so easy to rush through it and not see what we have never seen before.

In this passage, the first thing we should note Continue reading

8 Paradigm-shifting Concepts Related to the Bible

Recently, I posted two entries that stirred some thought:

10 Paradigm-shifting Old Testament Verses

10 Paradigm-shifting New Testament Verses

As I continued to ponder the topics, I realized that most of us have some ‘Biblical’ paradigms that are not informed by Scripture.  In cases, these paradigms are ‘traditional,’ or ‘translator/editor induced’ and in cases, they are more subtle.

Let’s take a walk and consider some of the paradigms we have that may be formed from quite the ‘unscriptural’ basis.

1.  The most useless page in your Bible:  Here is an interesting paradigm we may not even realize the origin of.  Continue reading

Who is Pete Rambo? LOL!

Here is an interview from earlier today wherein I had the opportunity to share a little of my/our testimony about how the Father has been leading us.  Enjoy!

FYI, I mention several of the study sheets/handouts from New2Torah that have been helpful to me…

Jesus / Yeshua as pictured in Joseph. Part 2.

Previously we identified roughly 25 prophetic connections or ‘remez’ pictures in the life/story of Joseph, most of which are direct connectors to Yeshua.  That was Just Genesis chapter 37!!

This is loads of fun!  Let’s keep going!

Genesis 38 is a significant story for multiple reasons, but it does not directly involve Joseph.  We’ll skip to chapter 39.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the ‘Joseph’ story is his exile to Egypt and the ‘hidden nature’ of his time in Egypt…  so much so, that under a different name and ‘look’ his own brothers did not recognize him.

Chapter 39 begins to set the stage for this amazing transformation that is a fascinating picture of ‘Jesus’ among the Gentiles.

  • v. 1 Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt…  Through the next few remez hints, we’ll see ‘Joseph’ but it is a process of him retaining his faithfulness to his Father, but his identity is increasingly hidden.  Yeshua, was exiled by the Jews and by the end of the third century, most of His Jewish heritage was all but erased. Jesus / Yeshua as pictured in Joseph. Part 1.

This past week began what is probably my very favorite run of Torah Portions.  The last, Vayishlach, and the next several are highly prophetic of various parts of history, some yet future.  Of the images presented, I find the pictures of Messiah Yeshua in Joseph to be most compelling!jopehs coat

I want to share some of the pictures I see.  Because there are so many, I will not take the time to exhaustively explain each one, but hope to present enough of a connection that you, the reader, will ponder for deeper understanding.  Also, understand that some of these pictures may seem a stretch, and indeed, if taken on their own they might be, but because of the preponderance of evidence and sheer number of glaring connections, the seemingly thin connections have validity.

Before beginning, a quick explanation for those not familiar with ‘remez’ pictures, the Hebraic understanding of Scripture is that it has many levels.  The four main levels, or major divisions of understanding are previously explained in part 2 of my Elijah series.  Here is the brief overview:

Simply, the Hebrew hermeneutic sees four main levels to Scripture with multiple facets and means of seeing those levels.  The acronym PaRDeS , or PaRaDiSe, is used to remember them:

  • Peshat: Plain, simple, direct
  • Remez: Hints or deeper meaning beyond literal such as allegorical, symbolic Continue reading

Vayishlach, Shabbat Service, Nov. 16, 2013

Vayishlach, Shabbat Service, Nov. 16, 2013.

This past week’s Shabbat message has particularly significant prophetic implications.  I put it on our fellowship’s blog, but thought I’d link it over here for those interested.

It is long, but most, whether Torah Observant or not, will find it interesting.  Enjoy!

The Proper Role of Grace in the Life of the Believer

When I was growing up, there were two boys who lived up the street that I was at least mildly jealous of.  They were from two different and unrelated families, but their circumstances were similar, such that I was envious of both.

My parents loved us (my siblings and me) and provided as best they could, but we were not affluent by any stretch.  Our home was a solid Bible believing home and we had rules and consequences.  I knew deeply that my father loved me, and on more than one occasion I felt the ‘rod of discipline.’

The boys up the street also lived in homes with parents who loved them, however, the environment was a bit different…  It was the environment that at times made me jealous.

Most glaring was the number and types of toys they each had.  Who doesn’t want a motorcycle?  And toys to no end?  They always had the newest, coolest goodies.

Besides the toys, they got to do just about whatever they wanted.  Oh, there were rules, but they knew, no matter what, that if they broke the rules, their dads (and moms) would let it slide, or even take up for them before whatever authority.  Problems at school?  Not to worry!  It was a classmate’s fault, or the teacher’s fault…  If the principal imposed consequences, the parents would make life into ‘easy street.’

There were no curfews.  No real restrictions.  Free access to vehicles, etc…

Yep, they sure had it made.

Or so I thought…  Continue reading

10 Paradigm-shifting Old Testament Verses

A few days ago I published a piece titled ‘10 Paradigm-shifting New Testament Verses.’  It was a piece that generated more discussion than anything I have published to date on this blog.   Great discussion thread!!optical-illusions

Good!

Discussion and thinking are VERY important.  Most people simply accept what they are told by their parents and/or the pulpit and they never question the establishment.  Frankly, when we each stand before the Judge, He is not going to see if we adhered to what our parents or denomination believed.  He is going to judge by His standard,  Scripture, and we are each accountable for what we have in our hand, even if we choose not to study it.

Since we looked at NT verses, it is only fair to consider some ‘Old Testament’ paradigm-shifting verses.  The great challenge is that there are about five times as many verses to choose from, so whittling the list down to just ten is hard, but here goes. Continue reading

Dr Ted Broer What happens when you eat pork

Somewhere between GROSS and FUNNY…  Definitely, never heard it this way before, and the medical study is cited!!

[CAVEAT EMPTOR!  (‘Buyer beware…’):  See comments section, but Commentor Chris Span alerted me that the speaker may not be totally credible based on sources and his personal history.  Link and commentary below.  Regardless, the video is still funny and gross, though is is a shame that some of the documentation to support the truth of pork’s uncleanness may itself be ‘unclean… 🙂 ]

10 Paradigm-shifting New Testament Verses

Maybe I’m the only person this happens to, but have you ever read a verse that you’ve read a 100 times, but suddenly you ‘see’ it totally differently?  Like a bolt of lightning, or a V-8 moment, you suddenly understand it in a whole new light?

illusion_optical_illusions-s300x369-13681-580An optical example is at the left…  Do you see a young woman, or an old woman?

Sometimes seeing one can become an impediment to seeing the other, yet both are cleverly there.

Theologically, we can be told a certain paradigm or traditional understanding so many times that we can’t ‘see’ something else that is obviously there.  Yet, taking time to ponder and refocus, can suddenly open whole new worlds of understanding that utterly shift our paradigm.

Here are ten such verses that are paradigm shifters.   I pray you are as challenged as I was the first time these verses ‘hit’ me.  They open doors to big blessings. Continue reading

In the Beginning was The Word!

Where exactly did John get this idea?

  • A.)  Stroke of literary genius?
  • B.) Inspiration of the Holy Spirit?
  • C.)  Rabbinic thought of his day?

Most, especially in Christendom, will be shocked to hear that the answer is not A.  His recording of it in these terms is likely influenced by B.  But, the concept in fulness is C!!

Yep. The Apostle John opens his Gospel with,

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being…. John 1

but the idea of the Messiah as the ‘Word of the Lord’ was already an idea in rabbinic thought.

There are multiple Targums, or Targumim, that are authoritative translations/paraphrases of the Torah into Aramaic.  One of the very interesting features is that woven into the Targumim are some of the threads of prevailing rabbinic thought at the time of writing.

Most fascinating is the Targum Onkelos, recorded late first century, and generally attributed to a proselyte convert to Judaism.  (If you have e-sword, a previous post gives a link to download for free.  The extra benefit is its searchability!!) Continue reading
