ALL Israel… Bones, sticks and kingdoms…

I have really been soaking in Ezekiel 36 the last few days and several times have read on til the end of chapter 37.  Well, this morning a coworker asked me about the dry bones and I got to share two sticks as well as address 37:24-28, verses Christendom ignores because they don’t fit the Christian paradigm.

Who is ‘all Israel?’  Who is ‘My servant David?’  If ‘David’ is in the land overseeing ‘all Israel,’ where is Jesus? Where are you? Who are the two kingdom’s? (v.22 & 23).  Why does ‘David’ cause them to walk in statutes and ordinances… FOREVER?

Hmmmmm….  Seems the’re some seriously false doctrines floating around…

Reblog: What the First Golah Community Forgot About Sukkot

My good friend and fellow blogger, Peter Vest, has just posted one of those classic posts that gets me so excited I am about to jump out of my skin!!!  Sometimes, this whole regathering of the Tent of David is so exciting I can’t sleep and just want to shout, “HalleluYah!!”

What the First Golah Community Forgot About Sukkot

by Peter Vest, Sunday, September 27, 2015

In the fifth century B.C.E., when a small group of Southern Kingdom exiles returned to Israel, they had mostly forgotten about the Torah.  They had survived a great trampling, like grain on a threshing floor, but they had returned bruised and beaten and on the verge of cultural extinction.  Like wheat separated from chaff, they had remained distinct up until that point.  But now, having forgotten about the Torah, they had also forgotten about who they were.  And so they had begun to intermarry with non-Jews at an alarming rate.  It seemed as though the returnees from the Southern Kingdom (i.e. the Jewish People) would be annihilated via assimilation just as the Northern Kingdom had been:

“Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney,” Hosea 13:3

But G-d, abounding in mercy and love for His People, raised up Ezra (pictured above).

Ezra knew the cure for cultural amnesia:  Sukkot–also known as a festival of ingathering (Exodus 23.14-16) which was appropriate given that G-d had “ingathered” the exiles like wheat from the threshing floor.

And Ezra recalled what Moshe said regarding the purpose of Sukkot:

“Moses wrote down this Teaching and gave it to the priests, sons of Levi, who carried the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, and to the elders of Israel.
And Moses instructed them as follows:  Every seventh year, the year set for remission, at the Feast of Sukkot, when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He will choose, you shall read this Teaching aloud in the presence of all Israel.  Gather the people–men, women, children, and the strangers in your communities–that they may hear and so learn to revere the Lord your God and to observe faithfully every word of the Teaching.  Their children, too, who have not had the experience, shall hear and learn to revere the Lord your God as long as they live in the land which you are about to cross the Jordan to occupy.”  Deuteronomy 31.9-13.

So Ezra read the Torah.  And, wouldn’t you know, just as Moshe had prophesied, Am Yisrael heard the words and decided to recommit to observing the Torah faithfully:

And he [Ezra] read from it [the Torah] facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law….  (Continue reading)

Torah IS life!

tree of life“Torah IS life!!”

You won’t hear that from most pulpits, yet that is exactly the testimony of God breathed everlasting Scripture, contrary to millennia of false doctrine.  Here are a few statements from Yehovah,

Deu. 30:15-16 “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

Deu 32:45-47 When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel, he said to them, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law (torah).  For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. Here’s an interesting sign….

Exodus 31:16-17 is as true today as the day Yehovah spoke it!  Traditions be damned.

Is Yom Kippur for Christians?

Today is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.  Last evening and this morning, we have been reading Scripture, praying and confessing.  It is a day of humbling ourselves before

Pastor should have considered @ Tim. 3:16-17

Pastor should have considered 2 Tim. 3:16-17

the Lord.  But, is it a day for Christians?  Many, even most, believe that the Feasts of the Lord do not apply to them.  What does Scripture say?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

So, what does ‘all scripture’ mean?  Does that include Leviticus?

Lev. 234:26-32 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

“Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.  And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the Lord your God.  For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.  And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.  Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.  It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.”

National Shabbat, ‘an idea whose time has come…’

Simply acknowledging the division in the Messianic (messy-antic?) world is not enough.  Neither are simple calls for unity.  Something must be done.

Idyllic setting of the September 2015 B’ney Yosef National Shabbat gathering in Blairsville, GA.

Over the last year or so, there has been an increasing acknowledgement of the discord in the Messianic world.  Many leaders have begun to speak out against the divisions that are obvious.  Divisions that do not honor our King, nor strengthen this work.

To be frank, making a break with 1800+ years of church tradition takes a rather stiff spine and the heart of a leader.. or, a rebel.  Until recently, those who took the road less traveled had to be very strong and blaze new trails, particularly since this move of the Spirit has been very grassroots with little to no centralized human leadership.  Therefore, in the early stages of this move back to the ancient paths (Jer. 6:16-19) it is perfectly understandable that there would be strong opinions, much individualism and some differences in how we understand Scripture, but the divisions that resulted have often been more acrimonious than simple differences.  The result has been a very divided Body, much to the delight of our adversary/adversaries. A Pair of Visions….

menorahI am very close to a young man who has dreams and visions.  Most are simply recorded in a notebook because his parents don’t really know what to do with them.  In time, I believe, Abba will further reveal some details on how this gift is to best be used for the edification of the Body.

Yesterday, he had the second of a pair of related visions while at the Bney Yosef National Shabbat in Blairsville, GA.  He shared it with the group present and was encouraged to share it with a broader audience, hence, this blog.

After the Bney Yosef Congress, my wife and I along with two sons went to Adat Shalom in Summerville, SC to report on the trip and enjoy the fellowship of the group Ray Gardner leads.  During the time of worship in song, a young man had a vision.

When they were dancing in a circle, I saw the menorah in the center and I saw a great hand come from the center of the ceiling and grab the fire on the servant candle and when he did Continue reading

Shema at Bney Yosef National Shabbat (and, more!)

Yesterday was an AMAZING day!!

Since the Bney Yosef Congress in May, 2015, much has been happening along multiple fronts.  One of those avenues in the US is the implementation of an idea by Tzefanyah Pappas.  Essentially, as we see multitudes beginning to come out of the church and begin to walk in the Father’s Ways, the ancient paths spoken of by Jeremiah the prophet (6:16-19), cloistering has occurred among congregations and fellowships.  In an effort to build bridges and break down barriers to developing a national identity and cohesion, he began hosting a once a month Shabbat gathering called the Bney Yosef National Shabbat.

His hope (our’s as well) is that the concept will catch on across the planet such that Continue reading

Shema sung by Washburn Family

Here is a video of my good friends from middle Tennessee, the Washburns, singing the Shema.  The note under the video says,

The Washburn family is not Jewish (that we know of). We love and serve the God of Avraham, Yitzhak and Ya’akov. We follow His commandments to the best of our ability and love the land and people of Israel!!

YouVersion, Romans 1:16 and the Gospel of the Kingdom

Every day, YouVersion has a ‘Scripture of the Day.’  Most are ‘vanilla verses’ that I might read while surfing in or out of the program for some other purpose such as making a Scripture image or conducting a little guerrilla operation behind Christendom lines… 😉  Occasionally, one of the verses will catch my eye and start a thought trail.

Romans 1:16 was a recent verse most students of Scripture have memorized,

image_editor_144230710317216 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

I was raised believing this verse and Paul’s ministry in general, as well as Messiah’s work in particular was all about personal salvation.  But, is that really why He came?  Certainly, it is part of the mission of Yeshua/Jesus, but was that His primary ministry?

Why would Paul be ashamed of telling people they could be forgiven?  Or, was he attacked by the religious authorities because of something else in his message? Continue reading

The Olive Branch Shema Video

Here is a video of The Olive Branch in Huntsvile, AL, where my good friend Steve King and his family fellowship.  Send me a video of your fellowship, or individual families in your fellowship singing the Shema and I will post it as evidence of the width and breadth of those non-Jews coming to the walk in the way of the Father.

Grace and Law are….

…inseparable.  If you do away with the Law, you no longer have a need for grace.

Obedience to the Law brings blessing and life.  (Deuteronomy 30!). We have grace if/when we fall.

‘…gather together his elect…’

While reading this week’s Torah portion again this morning, a little word caught my eye!!  The revelation, however, was not so little!

Yeshua, speaking of the latter days, in Matthew 24, says,

29 “But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. 31 And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.

Pay very special attention to the bold and underlined words above as we look at a few verses in Deuteronomy 30,

30 “So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you cause them to come to mind in all nations where the Lord your God has banished you, and you return to the Lord your God and obey Him [lit. ‘listen to His voice] with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and share_1442114061466your sons, then the Lord your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you. If your outcasts are at the ends of the sky, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you [lit. ‘take you’] back. The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.

Fireworks went off in my head!!  Another great example of Continue reading
