The Faith of Abraham. A thought.

Christendom believes that ‘to be saved’ we need the ‘faith of Abraham.’  And generally speaking, they are exactly right…  But, what is the ‘faith of Abraham?’

Most would immediately quote Romans 4:3,

For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”

which cites Genesis 15:6 saying,

Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.

And this would be correct, but does it answer the question?  What is the faith of Abraham?  What was the outworking of ‘believed God?’ Continue reading →

Psalm 19:7-11 says,

The Torah of Yahweh (Law of the LORD) is perfect, restoring the soul;
The testimony of Yahweh is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of Yahweh are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of Yahweh is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of Yahweh are true; they are righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them Your servant is warned;
In keeping them there is great reward.

It is a curious thing that the ‘church,’ which claims to believe “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work,” also believes Continue reading →

Kinda funny…. or, not!

A friend who attends the same fellowship I attend sent me an email with a very short message:

“So it used to be sinning was breaking His law…now apparently those of us who are keeping the law are the sinners. This is a sad thought…”

If it weren’t so sad, it would be funny.

They must not have read,

Titus 3 is one of the most misunderstood and incorrectly interpreted Chapters in all of the Bible. What we will do today is allow the scriptures to interpret themselves, and figure out exactly what the fullness of the message is that Paul commissioned Titus to deliver as an overseer in the assemblies in Crete. Most mainstream theologians twist these scriptures, along with the other scriptures, to promote an Anti-Law doctrine that simply is not Biblical in any way. What we will find is that Paul has been falsely accused as well as highly misunderstood in most of His Epistles, especially this Chapter, and it can be extremely damaging to the souls of our Brothers. I pray that your eyes be opened, and your ears not be dull of hearing the message Titus is being commissioned to deliver.

Sacrifices in the Millennial Kingdom?

Excellent thoughts and insights! Sacrifice in the Millennium is a sensitive subject only when we are not willing to sit down and let the Word of Yahweh instruct. As long as we submit ourselves to church doctrines, the ‘traditions of men,’ we will lack wisdom and understanding. I highly recommend this article.

Recently the question of sacrifices in the Millennial Kingdom has come up. The question for Christians is, “Why would there be sacrifices if Yehoshua (Jesus) was the final ‘once and for all sacrifice?'” It is troubling for many to reconcile this. In fact, certain anti-missionary groups have used this very topic to destroy the faith of Christians. Thankfully, there are a couple of potential answers that address this issue.

 

The first deals with gaining understanding in regards to what the sacrificial system was for. We have the idea somewhat built into our religious culture, that the God of the OT (as if He was a different God than the one we now serve) needed the blood of animals in order to be appeased. “… the standard of the law…”

While reading the Book of Acts yesterday, I spotted something you’ve probably seen before, but it jumped off the page for me.

Here’s the quote from Acts 22:12-15:

12 “A certain Ananias, a man who was devout by the standard of the Law, and well spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, 13 came to me, and standing near said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very time I looked up at him. 14 And he said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will and to see the Righteous One and to hear an utterance from His mouth. 15 For you will be a witness for Him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

Paths of Righteousness

Here’s a quick thought that I heard while watching Matthew Nolan and Jim Staley teach on Melchizedek.  (Terrific teaching, by the way.)

He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)

“Paths of righteousness…”   I have always thought of this ‘path’ as leading to a destination, like a trail through the wood, or along a mountainside.  Maybe there is a little more…

The Hebrew word for ‘paths’ used here is H4570
מעגּלה  /  מעגּל
ma‛gâl  /  ma‛gâlâh
BDB Definition:
1) entrenchment, track
1a) circumvallation, entrenchment
1b) track
Part of Speech: noun masculine

The ‘paths’ spoken of here are ‘cycles.’  He leads us in ‘cycles’ of righteousness.  The annual calendar of Yahweh, the feast cycle, is one of the ‘paths’ whereby He works in us righteousness though His appointed times, His moedim.

Fascinating.  Marinate.

The intent of the Gospel from the beginning was the intersection/union of Jew and Gentile.  One in Messiah.

Paul Nison’s interviews are so cool as he finds and speaks with a broad cross-section of those who are coming back into covenant and ‘walking as Messiah walked.’ (1 Jn 2:3-7)  Both Jew and Gentile.

How to be LEAST in The Kingdom of Heaven:

Yeshua tells us exactly what we have to do to be LEAST in the Kingdom of Heaven:

“Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be  called LEAST in the Kingdom of Heaven;…”

Without skipping a beat or even drawing a breath, He tells us conversely what we have to do to be great in the kingdom:

“but whoever KEEPS and TEACHES them, he shall be called GREAT in the Kingdom of Heaven.”  (Matthew 5:19)

Countermanding the Almighty!!

Is it possible to countermand Yahweh, the Eternal God?  Does man, or the church have the authority to reverse His decrees?

Myriad verses would shout, ‘NO!!!  It cannot be done.’  And, that would be correct with one simple caveat.  IF/when Yahweh makes a change, He always tells the prophets first.

Let’s support these two assertions before proceeding.

Malachi 3:6 says, :”For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”

Amos 3:7 says,  “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”

Over and over in Scripture we see that Yahweh does nothing capriciously and always is very specific in what He commands.

Bearing this foundation in mind, let’s take a look at a change that supposedly happened at the resurrection of Messiah. Continue reading →

The Tree of Life. Who Gets to Eat?

So, I was pondering again one of those doctrine shattering verses.  Revelation 22:14,

14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (KJV)

Admittedly, some manuscripts say, ‘wash their robes,’ but this is pretty clear!  DO the commandments to have full access to the City and to the Tree of Life.  It is also interesting to note that even with the difference in manuscript, the ‘washing of robes’ is equated with ‘doing the commandments.’

Will you have access to the Tree of Life?  Are you doing the commandments?
