R.C. Sproul, Jesus, and the Doctrine of Active Obedience

While James Pyles and I do not agree on the place of the Torah in the life of a non-Jew (I believe there is One Law for the native and the ger), we definitely agree that Christendom needs to rethink some foundational doctrines that simply do not hold up to the Light of all Scripture.

Paragons of Christian theology and their doctrines are easily exposed and disassembled.  Here, Pyles demonstrates that one of my former heroes, R.C. Sproul, is simply ignoring Scripture contrary to his cherished doctri…, er, tradition.

Sowing and reaping….

image

I have just started reading Angus Wooten’s Restoring Israel’s Kingdom, a book that promises to deepen my understanding of who I am and what my Father’s business is.

In the comments on the cover credit (artwork of the two sticks being made one, Ez. 37:15ff), I saw a neat paradigm shifting idea: the house of Israel was scattered into the nations for disobedience.  If they were sown as Israelites, what makes us think they’ll be harvested as anything other than Israelites?

In fact, the Scriptures attest, over and over, that God’s intent is to restore the whole house of Israel.  See Acts 1:8; Ez. 37:24ff; Deu. 30; Is. 2:1-5; Eph. 2:12, etc…

If God will harvest Israelites, what might they look like??  Hmmmm…

Got Torah?

On location: National Shabbat in North Georgia

Been worshipping, dancing, fellowshipping and eating the last four hours at the North Georgia National Shabbat.  Attendees hail from SC, NC, TN, FL, AL, ME and GA.

image

Exodus Road provided music while various people led the dance.

image

The location, interestingly is a Shabbat-keeping Cowboy Church in, get this, Jerusalem, GA!  Cool!!

image

After worship and food, Mark Dickerman led a discussion about being a good neighbor and how that relates to community.

Two major rules: Do what you say you are going to do.  Do not encroach on your neighbor’s person or property.

Good neighbor attributes include gratitude, responsibility, honesty, industrious, diligent, and trustworthy.

Many Torah principles involved in all of these.  Great commission ties directly, particularly as we teach them to DO everything Yeshua commanded.

The Dance of the Two Camps

I received an email this morning from 06dance_n070408Ephraim Frank.  Very interesting…

________________________

Shalom Fellow Israelite,

As I was reflecting on the story of our forefather Jacob, after he fled from Laban his father-in-law, one word arrested my attention – “Machanyim” (“two camps”, Genesis 32:7).   In the Song of Solomon (6:13) there is an interesting verse with this very word in it, a word which I think express well what is happening today in the relationship between the two camps of the house Jacob:   “Return, return, O Shulamite; Return, return, that we may look upon you!  What would you see in the Shulamite — as it were, the dance of the two camps?”  (Song of Solomon 6:13)  (compare Jeremiah 31:21b; 22b).

The book of Ezekiel, especially chapter 37, has been gaining much attention, and with it controversy.  The dry bones of the whole House of Israel are being breathed upon by the Spirit and are coming alive to their identity all over the nations of this world.  Many attempts are being made to gather them and make organizations and congregations of various kinds.  However, as the dance goes on, we see how out of step we are with one another.  Ephraim is stumbling over his own feet in order to keep his balance, while Judah is doing their own version of the dance and at the same time trying to figure out who Ephraim is on the dance floor. The Gospel I never preached…

I spent more than 10 years in the pulpit and I am realizing I never really preached the Gospel.  Oh, I taught the death, burial and resurrection of the Messiah, but that is preacher silhouettenot the Gospel.  Surprised?

Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Multiple Scriptures testify to the fact that the Gospel existed before the coming of the expected Messiah.

Gal. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

And, from Hebrews,

Heb. 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

We also have multiple references of Yeshua preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom before His death….  Continue reading

Stunning rainbow…

image

Two days ago, I witnessed what was easily the most stunning rainbow I have ever seen.  My camera phone does not do it justice.  It was so close and so vivid the tree it appears to come from literally looked like it was on fire.  Amazing!!

I cannot look at a rainbow, though, without remembering the Sabbath.  God uses EXACTLY the same terminology when He gives the Covenant of the Sabbath as He does with the Covenant of the Rainbow.

Each of those covenants promise that He will DO something.  Rainbow = no flood, Sabbath = sanctify the keeper.  Both are FOREVER.  The Rainbow nor the Sabbath ever change.  (In fact, a great study is the word ‘olam’ meaning ‘forever’ and where God uses it…. You may be surprised that Passover and the Feasts are… forever, regardless of doctrine or theology to the contrary.

B’ney Yosef website and other news…

Hey guys, just a quick note that B’ney Yosef North America has a couple new websites up.  The first, one you can follow for any hot new info, is B’ney Yosef North America.  There a tons of important parts/additions/pages in the works for this site as it will be the hub for BYNA news, events, coordination and virtual gathering.

Tzefanyah has just set up a dedicated National Shabbat site that will help connect and inform the nation concerning National Shabbat events.  Besides SC and North GA events, we hear a National Shabbat is in the works in South Central TX as well as possibly AZ.  Stay tuned, or better yet, get involved!!

The Summit is just about three weeks away!  Time is flying and pieces are coming together.  Pray Abba brings those HE wants there and that He prepare us to do the work we feel He is leading us into.

We covet your prayers!!

Saints, according to Scripture…

image

Here is a YouVersion image from good friend, Steve King.  How do the Scriptures define ‘saint?’  You may have the testimony of Yeshua, but do you keep the commandments of God?

Malachi 4 says the generation in the days of Elijah will keep the Law of Moses…  EVEN the statutes and ordinances!!

Got Torah?  Might be a good time to investigate…

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes?

About a week ago, I introduced Commonwealth of Yisrael to you.  Following is an article about the project with many comments by co-founder, Kellen Davison.  As a matter of full disclosure and to help my readers put pieces together there are three items you need to know:

  • I am on the board of Commonwealth of Yisrael and covet your fervent prayer as we undertake this project.
  • I am heavily involved in the leadership of B’ney Yosef North America (BYNA), a fledgling organization that seeks to bring unity to the House of Joseph in North America as part of a larger project that is international!  All readers in North America should be considering getting involved with BYNA as I indirectly represent them to Commonwealth of Yisrael.  (Strength in numbers…)
  • My stance and that of BYNA is that those of us from the nations who seek to be united to Judah as part of Kol Yisrael only have rights through the restored covenant in Messiah Yeshua, He who came for the lost sheep of the House of Yisrael.  I.e., We will not deny Him and He comes with us… (More on this later.)

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes?

“’And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions; and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.” (Ezekiel 37:16-17)

During the recent Jewish holidays in September 2015, the Reconciliation with Israel Conference in Jerusalem, hosted by Kellen Davison, focused on recognizing the commonalities and addressing the areas that divide the two Abrahamic religions: Judaism and Christianity. As a result of conclusions made at the conference, Davison initiated the Commonwealth of Yisrael Project to help non-Jews join together in their common goal of bringing the Messiah Ben David, alongside the Jewish people, in a way that is mutually acceptable, conforming to Jewish law and Christian beliefs, and beneficial to all concerned.

The Commonwealth of Yisrael Project is intended to bring together non-Jews that love the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and recognize God’s eternal covenant with Israel, unifying them with each other and connecting them with the Jews. Davison spoke to Breaking Israel News, explaining that in order to succeed, the project must focus on the strong points that join people together.

Ten Lepers Cleansed: Another Perspective

Not long ago, I shared a post concerning the Good Samaritan and a different perspective I had never seen.  In fact, like The Good Samaritan Parable, there are lepermany events and parables in the life of Yeshua that point to the Two Stick Prophecy and the restoration of All Yisrael in one way or another.  I was reminded this morning of another that is likely much more familiar to us.  Here are my thoughts on some of the details..

Luke 17:11 While He was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing [a]between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As He entered a village, ten leprous men who stood at a distance met Him; 13 and they raised their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 When He saw them, He said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they were going, they were cleansed. 15 Now one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice, 16 and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks to Him. And he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? 18 [b]Was no one found who returned to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith [c]has made you well.”

A couple obvious connections pop out, but be patient.  Let’s start from the top!  Every detail matters. Continue reading
