A prayer journey…

Recall that a couple weeks ago I posted a reblog about Greater Israel, the HUGE territory prophesied to be given to the sons of Israel. Well, today, I joined about 45 mostly non-Jews who understand the volume of prophesies regarding the return of the house of Israel/Ephraim and we went on an 8 hour trek by bus up the eastern border of Israel. We stopped at strategic overlooks and locations to read Scripture, pray and sound the shofar. We spoke to Jordan, Syria and Lebanon proclaiming Who that land belongs to and speaking the return of His sons and daughters from the far islands.

Abba is doing something amazing in our day! Prophecy is literally unfolding before our eyes.We have only to see and take hold!

Checked in..

Parts of the trip were quite eventful… like the worst turbulence I have experienced in 20 year over the north Atlantic and a 45 minute change of plane and concourse, no, airport practically, in Madrid.

And, I couldn’t get maps to work after we were the last rental car customer and they pushed us out the door…. we made all the right decisions to get here based on memory from driving in the Land 18 months ago! Praise Abba!

So, off to bed for a few hours sleep before meeting the crew in the morning for a prayer adventure.

Mercy!! (For travels…)

Flying to Israel tonight/tomorrow. Have had most details worked out for a long time, then, due to snow in New York, my phone started to blow up with flight cancellations, panicked fellow travelers, etc!!

Spent hours on the phone, squeezed onto other flights with changed routes and a couple VERY short layovers.

We are excited! Updates and posts in the coming days as we participate in the 3rd B’ney Yosef Congress as well as hosting Pesach for a very international Ephramite group.

How exciting!!

The Moving Cloud and Difficult Truth

Numbers 9:15-23 explains in detail the travel habits of the Children of Israel in the wilderness. The abbreviated version is that they followed the Pillar of Cloud. When the Cloud moved, they moved. When the Cloud stood still, they camped.

Some camp locations were mere days long. Others, like Kadesh Barnea, were lengthy, up to 19 years.

Imagine having lived in a location for a year or two and the cloud suddenly moved. You would have had to make the decision to move or to stay. While most moved, I am sure that there were those who, at every move, decided to stay put. Kadesh must have been the hardest! Houses had been built, stables had been fortified and even orchards planted and harvested from. Then, boom!, time to move.

“Greater Israel” explosive Topic!

Recently, while reading comments from an occasional commenter on my blog, I saw a link to a website with an intriguing name: “The Greater Israel” Immediately, I was intrigued and went to peruse the site. The first and, unfortunately, only post correctly identifies the topic of ‘Greater Israel’ as “explosive.”

Indeed, this is a topic that sets the teeth of many, and I do mean MANY, on edge. But, why? It is another Biblical and truthful topic that is an inconvenient truth. This just happens to offend a different crowd than I am used to offending… Still, it must be dealt with.

Israel is and will be much, much bigger than the little sliver of land that Judah currently occupies and this should excite us. It means that in the future, there will be room for us and the hundreds of millions more who will latch onto the tzitzit of Continue reading →

Does God have two brides??

The knee jerk reaction from both Jews and Christians is a resounding, “NO!!!” But, does Scripture bear this out, or are we willfully blind to a most difficult topic that we relegate to some ancient culture and time?

Buckle your seat belt and let’s examine Scripture without doctrinal or cultural filters.

Ezekiel 23 is a vile and gut wrenching chapter that few read with any pleasure. Jerusalem and Samaria, capital cities of Judah and Israel respectively, are vividly described as sister brides, wed to God Himself, who commit adulterous acts.

23 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, ²“Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother; ³and they played the harlot in Egypt. They played the harlot in their youth; there their breasts were pressed and there their virgin bosom was handled. ⁴Their names were Oholah the elder and Oholibah her sister. And they became Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And as for their names, Samaria is Oholah and Jerusalem is Oholibah.

Begin by noting that while the language is metaphorical, God is making a very specific point. This chapter begins with a bold and direct statement: two women, daughters of one mother became His and bore sons and daughters. This is marriage language that is confirmed again multiple times through the text. Oholah and Oholibah pursue other lovers and play the harlot to the anger, frustration and embarrassment of God the Husband.

Ever wonder why most pastors and ‘theologically trained’ people don’t get this Torah awakening?

It is a common lament: “My pastor just doesn’t see this,” or, “My family knows their Bible forwards and backwards, why don’t they understand?”

For me, as a former pastor who began Torah observance and see clearly it’s current relevance and continuity, I am in an exceedingly small minority. Why?

We’ll, this morning my good friend Al McCarn sent me a link that totally explains a most mystifying set of parables and answers the question concerning why the Hebrew Roots and Messianic community is so full of seemingly brigands and theologically untrained. Perhaps, Abba has done this intentionally, because, He has done this before….

Counting down the days…. (And, I’m EXCITED!!!)

Several countdowns are running at our house. There’s the countdown to our third trip to Israel. We also have the countdown to the 2 p.m. launch of Ten Parts in the King on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at M. Judson Booksellers in Greenville, SC. That is a LOT happening in our neck o’the woods…. But, there is more!

Updated!! – Come to Israel with us for Pesach 2018!!

Al McCarn and I, along with our wives and a couple of our teen age boys, are going to be in Israel for the Third B’ney Yosef Congress in Ariel, followed by about 12 days just outside Jerusalem. The house that we are renting can sleep up to 14, so there is room for about 6 to 8 others who may want to join us!! If you think you might want to, keep reading!!

Sukkot, last year, was an amazing stay in a little village just minutes west of Jerusalem in the hills where Saul roamed. We rented a house on the top of a hill with expansive views and quiet streets to walk. We had a couple rental cars and jetted all over the country to see the places tour buses don’t go and to find the roots of the house of Israel. We also had a number of very special Divine appointments with Orthodox Jews who are understanding a bit about the Torah awakening. This coming Pesach will be no different! We expect to be able to visit in some Orthodox homes and interact with our brothers of Judah as well as worship in a local Orthodox synagogue. (The same synagogue we walked Torah scrolls in for Sukkot 18 months ago!)

Already, we have a couple meetings arranged as well as several important tours on our agenda. We invite you to prayerfully consider coming along.

Dates we have the house are from March 27 to April 8. We will celebrate Pesach and may have other joining us in the large great room that can seat 25+. Those who wish to attend the Congress before hand, dates are 23-27 March. We can provide contact info for the organizers.

So, if you are interested in hanging with us for a couple weeks, celebrating Pesach in the Land, seeing what kind of cool adventures we can scare up and just generally breathing deeply the air of Israel in a Jewish community just outside of Jerusalem, drop me an email and I will give rough prices and further details!!

You may not like it, but….

It is okay to wrestle with it, but in the end we have to make a decision: obey or disobey. We are accountable for every jot and tittle.

This quote is a KEEPER!!

Friend and co-author Al McCarn has just reviewed Dr. Rivkah Lambert Adler’s groundbreaking (ground shaking?) Ten From the Nations. I highly recommend the review, but especially want to share a quote that is worthy of framing!

“…those who persevere in reading and studying even when the subject matter is uncomfortable tend to come out much better in the end – smarter, wiser, more tolerant, and better able to cooperate with others in the interest of a greater good.”

Truth requires reading and studying hard subject matter, sometimes even things to which we may be strongly opposed. Be willing to pursue truth, even the uncomfortable parts!
