What did the Early Church Fathers REALLY do? *edited*

Excellent, excellent series.  May be the best investment of an hour this month!!  Pieces of church history your seminary trained pastor may not know…  Some of this I didn’t know and I have seminary paper hanging on my wall…

**Edit: Please note, Melissa Coles was kind enough to track down links to sources verifying much of this video series. They are in the comments section! Thanks, Melissa!

Parts 2-5 follow…

  1. That was indeed profitable time spent watching these videos. I shared it around with friends. Ah, history. We keep losing this thread, then finding it.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting.

Yes, Scripture and history tell an interesting story when we are willing to set doctrinal filters aside and just get the facts…

      Shalom!

Thank you so much for this Pete. I have been broken hearted and have wanted to weep all day. After watching this I can’t restrain the tears. Though it is a mixed weeping now. So saddened that our GB bloggers have been so resistant and so joyful that Abba has given reassurance of His ways again. This has happened to me so many times when I ever had a question or heard others speak against His Ways ie: living Torah to our best. Please keep up the tov work and forwarding all these good things to FEED your Flock. We are all so hungry for Yahweh’s Word and the Truth Y’shua truly left to us.

Peter, I spent most of my weekend researching the information in this video and I am thrilled and a little bit angry too! This is documented truth and yet even in a Christian school, my 13 year old is reading a church history book that portrays Paul as one against Torah…one who has switched sides. It’s a shame that the majority of pastors and by association congregations are being taught lies! I argued this point with a pastor who told me that Jesus broke the sabbath! Seriously! Then by God’s law he would have been SENTENCED to death! I had barely begun to study the scriptures for myself and I didn’t feel equipped to challenge his views, but this presentation and the supporting historical evidence finally has given me that sense of “this is really real & I’m not nuts!” That I have needed for a long time now. Thank you so much for your devotion to sharing the truth!

      Thank you, Melissa.

I can tell you, I have gone back to read/study things I have learned because I needed to AGAIN see that it is truth supported by history. Like you, I was taught the pieces that fit the paradigm I was supposed to fit in/teach. Now, I find videos like this refreshing because, like you say, it confirms again that ‘this is really real & I’m not nuts.’

I do think as we ‘de-program’ we have to return often to the sources of truth to help affirm again that what we heard from Abba that is diametrically opposed to what we’ve been taught is indeed ‘for real.’

      Shalom!

        Peter,

        Click to access 7may2011.pdf

is a link to the PDF of this presentation, I found it very helpful. I was also pleasantly surprised to find many of the reference materials on amazon.com at very low prices!
Amazon won’t let me copy links. Every time I try, it tells me I have already ordered this book, but here are the ones I bought.
History of the Christian Church – Complete in 8 volumes (Annotated) $4.99
        The Apostolic Constitutions $.99
History of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire -free
The First Epistle of Clement to the Corinthians $.99
I thought it was worth it to be able to see with my own eyes what these authors wrote, thanks again for your dedication!

That is the Truth. Wish this had been addressed on GB when someone said Y’shua broke the Sabbath. I let it slip by.
