The recent video series responding to David Wilber and JK McKee‘s wrong understanding of marriage and their false position of egalitarianism has prompted a number of great conversations through my blog and email. Interestingly, of those who have reached out, there are many, many people, some teachers and pastors, who understand and agree with the validity of patriarchy and even polygyny. In one such conversation, a contact stated the following in our extended discussion,
I swear I’m really not dogging on polygyny or patriarchy. I just also believe in informed consent.

My response was,
Scripture, rightly taught, is informed consent. The ‘fly in the ointment’, the emotional hangup we have as individuals and as a culture is directly connected with acceptance of and negotiation with the falsehoods of monogamy-only, feminism, and egalitarianism imported from Greco-Roman law.

While the author’s concern was a changing, or potentially changing/renegotiated, ‘playing field’ in an established marriage, which is a truly valid concern, it tipped off in me a far greater issue.
We need to repent!
The truth is, ‘informed consent’ is irrelevant IF Scripture has been taught correctly regarding headship, patriarchy, marriage, and the roles and responsibilities of both man and woman. The problem is that for centuries, Christendom has not rightly divided the Word regarding marriage, headship, patriarchy, roles of men and women, etc. Certainly, shades and shadows, parts of the truth, have been taught and we have long had a moderately patriarchal culture, but the avoidance of hard truth by every generation has set the stage for the epic advance of feminism, matriarchy, and egalitarian falsehood in the last 70 years.
We, as well as our fathers, have failed to take a bold and fearless stand for the truth. The resultant vacuum has been amply filled by the adversary and feel good doctrines that tickle ears.
A significant number of today’s sins and vices are a direct result of man’s (male’s) failure to fulfill the creation mandates: have dominion and be fruitful. Instead, western culture, in its extravagant excess, prefers vices and entertainment. Like Rome, bread and circuses are our downfall. And, seated in the temple, accepting the fawning, egalitarian, feminist worship is Asherah!
Repentance and an immediate reversal of course is required. Men and women must take a bold and unyielding stand against this false goddess who alone ticks off YHVH more than any other.
33Ahab also made the Asherah. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
1 Kings 16:33
God detests Baal worship, but the Word attests that making room for Asherah, the fertility goddess and faux egalitarian Queen of Heaven, is exponentially worse! It is flipping the authority structure. It is coming into alignment with the serpent. It is wishing Eve had been successful in Gan Eden.
As Brian Somers points out in Tangent #3, Yeshua hates Jezebel and everything that comes with her. Her mention in Revelation 2:22 is an allusion to Asherah! And, apparently, she’s present in the ekklesia. Just preach/teach God’s authority structure and she’ll come out like a toothless roaring lioness, and most men will cower under her angry glare. Some, like Ahab, will even think they are king and seek to defend her… (Yes, we have these white knights in the ekklesia, too.)
Please, brothers and sisters, study this out. It is ‘HUGE’ and affects so many areas in our culture and in our restoration! We must repent of the pagan syncretistic lies we have inherited and believed regarding egalitarianism, feminism, monogamy-only, traditional marrieage, etc. Then, headship and patriarchy must be properly restored. Further, the necessary and entirely Biblical subset of polygyny must be accepted and squarely on the table.
The restoration of kol Israel demands this! God will not be ‘cancelled’ on this issue. He is coming with a sword to judge all, even those who claim His name but continue to embrace Asherah. He judged the synchretistic house of Israel before, and He hasn’t changed.
They also feared the LORD and appointed from among themselves priests of the high places, who acted for them in the houses of the high places. They feared the LORD and served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from among whom they had been carried away into exile. To this day they do according to the earlier customs: they do not fear the LORD, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances or the law, or the commandments which the LORD commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
2 Kings 17:32-34
Repentance for our embracing of Asherah and her various forms and iterations is required! Remaining in fellowship with Asherah is rebellion!
Selah!
Amen!
