Hi Pete Rambo, Thanks for sending me the link to this conversation. I had already listened to it and have since had a second run through, watching it on Biblical Marriages channel (as to give him a view count, too).I just finished watching your conversation with PostMillMan about Steve Lawson, and in both of these different discussions there was a point made that I am confused about. In the first (just a guess here) ten minutes or so, or at least it is one of the first points made in the discussion about Mike Wingers fallacious polygyny video, there was mention of a man committing adultery by sending away a wife. I understand that adultery is only possible when it involves a married woman, and I understand that sending away a woman for trivial reasons is wrong, but I am having a lack of understanding as to why the sending away of a woman can be a situation that makes the man guilty of adultery.I feel like I am either missing something or not understanding something here. Being guilty of not honoring your vow, being guilty of making up some excuse as to why you want to send a woman away, I can see these as wrong or bad or sin, but why does this earn the label of adultery? Is it due to causing the woman to eventually find someone else to be with that causes the next man to be guilty of adultery?I hope my question is clear enough and that you can explain what I am missing on this. I appreciate your time and enjoy what you are doing in your ministry. Thanks. Phil HylanMountain View, Arkansas

      Shalom and welcome.

Yes, I believe that sending the woman away without a certificate of divorce (and even with, in this circumstance) places the woman in a very bad situation that is not in the original design for one flesh. Therefore, if she goes to another man for safety, provision, covering, she commits adultery, but the sin is her former husbands because he caused it. It is not hers. Consider the times this was given… she couldn’t go get a job, or start a career… a woman could barely do business transactions without a man in her life. She was forced to begging or prostitution in many cases.
