A word jumped out at me when I was reading Pete’s article about the “Tearing Down the Asherim” and what follows is my investigation of the word “stronghold”.

25 Now on the same night the Lord said to him, “Take your father’s bull and a second bull seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal which belongs to your father, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it; 26 and build an altar to the Lord your God on the top of this stronghold in an orderly way, and take a second bull and offer a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah which you shall cut down.” Judges 6:25-26

The word “stronghold” in Judges 6:26 is the Hebrew word H4581 (Strong)

מָעֻז מָעֹז מָעוּז מָעוֹז

mâ‛ôz mâ‛ûz mâ‛ôz mâ‛ûz

maw-oze’, maw-ooz’, maw-oze’, maw-ooz’

From H5810; a fortified place; figuratively a defence: – force, fort (-ress), rock, strength (-en), (X most) strong (hold).

This same word is translated fortress in Daniel 11:38

38 But instead he will honor a god of fortresses, a god whom his fathers did not know; he will honor him with gold, silver, precious stones, and treasures.

We are facing Ba’al and Asherah in these last days in addition to Lucifer, just like our fathers of old contended with them. That is why Paul said what he said in Ephesians 6 in his famous armor of God passage:

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the
rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:12

Rulers is archon in Greek and likely refers to Satan and his chief lieutenants. But Ba’al is a sky god and Asherah is his consort, so the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places is likely a reference to Ba’al and his clones, as well as Asherah and her clones.
