If you ever find yourself thinking, ‘I have higher moral standards than Abraham and David’, then you have entered dangerous territory.

Everyone has a moral standard. Most of those standards are founded on nothing more than personal opinion or preferences. Even Messianic, Hebrew roots, and Christian morality is often based in something other than the Torah, God’s standard of righteousness.
But, will your standard be deemed ‘self righteous’ by the One who gave the Torah and established the only standard by which we will be judged?
One area wherein God has a clear standard that gets overlooked in our attempt at keeping Torah is headship, patriarchy, and family structure. Oh, we are good at splitting hairs over the calendar, Shabbat observation, and food instructions, but do we pay attention to what God actually does and does not say about marriage, family, community, and tribal structure? Have we considered that He has reasons for why He allows some things while disallowing others?
Or, do we dismissively wave off certain topics because,
- … we’re better than that!
- … that was then, this is now!
- … I don’t agree with that!
- … we don’t need that any more!
- … culture has changed!
- … <insert any other baseless excuse>!
Over the last year, I have studied and written the weekly Torah commentary through the specific lens of ‘Authority, Headship, and Family Structure.’ While all of those notes and myriad links are free and available on our Torah Portion Series page, they are also compiled with added material into a serious volume available for much less than the paper and ink necessary to print your own… 🙂
What is the TORAH standard for morality as it applies to family, marriage, masculinity, headship, patriarchy, ect.? In what way does God’s everlasting and unchanging Word alter what you currently believe? Are you walking in self righteousness, or obedience to Torah regarding relationships in the home, family, and community? Does the New Testament alter or support what the Torah says?
These questions and many more answered in,
Authority, Headship, and Family Structure,
available from Amazon in paperback or Kindle, 15.99 and 4.99 respectively. Be sure to get a copy before the next Torah cycle to have weekly study notes that will challenge and grow your understanding of God, His people, restoration, Israel, family, marriage, leadership, etc…
Shabbat Shalom!!
9/17/20 – Rush Limbaugh had a segment on how feminism has ruined both girls and boys. Liberal women get frustrated and want manly men, even if they won’t say it out loud. This book will help clarify what it means to be a “manly man”, and by logical extension, a “womanly woman”.
This is the link to Rush’s segment yesterday. https://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2020/09/17/feminism-imprisoned-women-in-anger-men-in-confusion/
