Will be established as the chief of the mountains,
And will be raised above the hills;
And all the nations will stream to it.

And that we may walk in His paths.”
For the law (Torah) will go forth from Zion
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Do we really accept Torah?

This awakening to Torah that is happening across the planet is amazing, messy, crazy and fascinating. Clearly, Abba is up to something, because there is no other explanation that fits this phenomenon.

Still, do we really accept Torah?

No doubt, this is a process. We are learning and the understandings are varied. There is no monolithic opinion or system, though many try to control or direct it… I myself am guilty as I share what the Father and His Word teach me. But, do we really accept Torah?

To be clear, my definition of Torah is the five written books of Moses with the rest of Scripture being an unfolding and explanation of its proper and improper implementation, binding commentary as it were. I regard Christian commentary and oral torah (Talmud) on the same secondary level as interesting thought and discussion by learned men of old, but neither binding nor ‘Torah’ with a capital ‘T.’

Of course, there are many who would immediately say, ‘See? You can’t really understand Torah without ______…’ Fill in the blank.

But, my question in the title is more basic. Regardless of what else we read and consider useful, do we really accept Torah?

Consider for yourself, are there things in the Torah that your cultural lenses or filters do not let you buy into? By that I mean, do you accept everything or do you ‘hold out’ on certain topics?

When the Mashiach comes, it is promised/prophesied that He will teach ‘Torah from Zion.’ We think we are prepared to accept what He teaches, but are we? If Torah is the law of the Land and the law of His people…. Are we prepared for sacrifice? How about levirate marriage? Or,….

You get the idea.

Do we really accept Torah? Are we ready to set aside our cultural and traditional biases to be fully obedient, or is this where passing under the rod but not entering the Land is in play? (Ez. 20:37…)

We should desire, even seek, to be fully submitted to the Torah. There is no room to ‘negotiate’ the price. There will be no room to say, ‘I’ll do everything but ______.’

May Yah tenderize our hearts and open our eyes to the whole counsel of His Torah.
