As we were touring parts of Israel in the days prior to the Second B’ney Yosef National Congress, I found myself, more than a few times, looking forward to talking to BYNA Elder Mark Webb who I knew would be in attendance. As Father’s plan would have it, Kelly and I were seated at the same table with Mark and Pollyanna the very evening we arrived at the Eshel Hashomron.
Mark is a gentle giant that I had the pleasure of meeting last year at the First Congress and have gotten to know better at each step along the way. While speaking with him on a cool March evening outside of a Thai restaurant in St Petersburg before the BYNA Summit, I learned that he and Polly are avid students of astronomy and the signs that appear in the heavens. Knowing that he has really believed for some time that 2017 is a significant time period, my immediate question, once caught up on each other’s lives and families, was to ask what new things he has been seeing and what his current thoughts are regarding eschatology.
Mark did not disappoint. Because there were several other couples seated at the table who may not have been aware of Biblical astronomy and the Hebrew use of the mazeroth, Mark began with some quick background and examples, such as Daniel, for studying the stars. Then, he shared a HUGE piece of information.
Revelation 12:1-4 has a rather challenging picture that has often been either, assumed to have been fulfilled, or abused with strange interpretation, yet, by reasonable consideration, it is a sign about to be literally fulfilled in the stars.
A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 2 and she was with child; and she *cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth.
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems. 4 And his tail *swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.
Mark, after sharing the Scripture, proceeded to tell us that Jupiter, known as the Tsedek, or king star, is entering the womb of Virgo, also known as Betulah. At the time that Jupiter exits between Virgo’s feet, three planets will join the nine stars over her head to make a crown. Further, on that day next year, Virgo will literally be clothed with the sun and the moon will be at her feet!! This whole picture is a sign that happened 2000 years ago and will not happen again!
We were stunned to hear Mark relay the details and then active chatter ensued about the times and seasons we live in! So many signs!!
When I got home, I decided to check a resource I use from time to time for Biblical insight into the stars. I was not disappointed. Dr. Dale Sides has a very nice article with images depicting the event, giving particular dates and explaining some of the possible implications from a rather Christian perspective. (My thoughts vary on the ‘catching away of the Bride,’ etc…) What he doesn’t cover is the ensuing verses in Revelation 12 that are surely related… Something we can all ponder and consider.
But, there is more!!
This month, November 14, 2016, the largest supermoon in 70 years will be visible! Because the last one of this magnitude happened in 1948, maybe this, too, is a sign to get our attention! Here is an article about this amazing event that you will surely want to witness.
