Been reading a book by Brad Scott: The Shadow of Heavenly Things: Revealing the Body of Messiah in the Tabernacle. WOW!! Most of this book is available on his site.

    See Tabernacle @ http://www.wildbranch.org/teachings/lessons/

Talk about depth. Likely we’ll only tackle the Ark on Shabbat. Just too much to cover in a couple hours!

    A few ‘after thoughts’ for memory’s sake…

Only really got through the Ark. Great depth. Many Scriptural connections, but recording quick overview here. Yeshua represented by ark. Ark also, in some ways represents our heart.

Consider: Made of two elements, one common and one precious.

Acacia: Tree with ‘no form or comeliness. Not esteemed.’ Lives long, very deep roots, lasts well in dry ground. Greek word translated as acacia also means ‘incorruptible.’ Thorny, so often used around top of sheep pens to keep predators out. Likely what was used as crown of thorns on the Good Shepherd.

    Gold: Precious. Pure. Overlays/covers.

Egyptians had means to impregnate wood with gold thus making the two into one inseparable entity. Picture of Yeshua: Common human perfectly and completely joined with perfect Divine nature… Complex, but we see part of that aspect here.

Ark, from ‘aron means ‘chest’, from arah meaning ‘gathering’. Was a chest for the gathering of the Testimony. Location of the Torah. Like our heart, when we fill with other things we defile it.

Mercy Seat, literal Hebrew ‘placed on from above’… Mercy only comes from above and must cover Torah/Law. Yahweh always sees Torah through (the) Mercy (seat).

Mercy seat and Ark/chest never to be separated. Always spoken of as a unit. Grace and truth rely on each other. Grace alone is lawlessness. Law alone is death. John 1:14… Yeshua ‘tabernacled among us’…’full of grace and truth.’ Probable Greek hendiatis, i.e. words modify each other: Graceful truth, truthful grace.

Cherubim: See verses on Yahweh covering us with His wings…

Ark at center! Heart at center. Yahweh begins in center w/ heart and works out. Yeshua to be the center.

Ark always one of two places: Center of people, or at head of movement/column. Yeshua to be our center and our leader.

    Major new insights:

    1. Two cherubim point back to a previous act of Yahweh’s mercy!! Two cherubIM! Gen. 3:24=cherubim! But only A sword… Hmmm… Flaming sword turns everywhich way to guard entrance… Rev. (Hitgalut) tongue of flaming sword from His mouth.. BINGO! Yeshua at gate to Garden of Eden as flaming sword flanked by cherubim guards. Was an ACT OF MERCY to prevent ahdam and chava from partaking of the Tree of Life!

    2. In discussion, reminded that Jermiyahu 3:16 tells us the Ark will not be remembered or ever made again after return of Israel… besides fact that we behold face to face the original, why? Why would we not even WANT to remember such an important pointer to Messiah? Hmmm…. Possibly because its whereabouts will be found and used in the Abomination of Desolation? Hmmm… Speculative, but through discussion believe this may be a real possibility!

There was MUCH more. VERY rich study and we never got to the other articles..

    Shalom, Pete
