It is hard to understate the enormity of recent happenings regarding the fate of Jerusalem.  I am still trying to process it all, but I do think it safe to say that we, mankind, have crossed a threshold into prophetically uncharted waters.

If you have not heard, on Kislev 23, 5777, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 2334 that condemns any Israeli activity beyond its 1967 borders.  Further, the Resolution gives teeth to the international body to begin using lawsuits and eventually military action against not only Israel, but any who would side with her.  According to the enforceable text of the Resolution, the Old City, the Western Wall as well as multiple Jewish suburbs around Jerusalem now belong to a non-existent people group commonly called ‘Palestinians.’

The political intrigue leading up to its passing is an interesting study in multiple characters.  President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, originally planning to put the Resolution forth, withdrew it near the last minute in part due to the highly unusual intervention of President-elect Donald Trump.  Then, even as Israel celebrated, in an even more surprising move, four nations from across the planet, Venezuela, Senegal, Malaysia and New Zealand resurrected the Resolution and passed it through the Security Council without the expected veto from the United States.  By not vetoing Resolution 2334, according to the direct instruction of the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, the US voted in favor of the action and became perhaps the most culpable party.

Ironically, exactly seven years before this vote, on Kislev 23, 5770, Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on December 10, 2009.  Further, the passage of Resolution 2334 in the late hours of Kislev 23 creates a highlighted focus on the last four verses of Haggai 2, a chapter that makes the only two mentions of Kislev 24 in all of Scripture.

Hag 2:20  And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month (Kislev, see v. 10), saying,
Hag 2:21  Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;
Hag 2:22  And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. 
Hag 2:23  In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.

For decades, it has been a well-known phenomenon that every time the Unites States acts with malice toward Israel some catastrophe befalls us within the next 24 hours.  Nothing has yet happened, but we are in the time of Hanukkah, the feast of (re)dedication of the Temple.  Perhaps the Father is waiting until the eighth day to mete judgment?  It is instructive to note that months before the vote, many voices were already interpreting a strange film, I, Pet Goat II, to be a warning of disaster to befall the US in the waning hours of December 31, 2016.

The Resolution was not enough to satisfy the hatred of Israel by this administration, Secretary of State, John F. Kerry, just five days later in a 71 minute speech laid the groundwork for a follow on UN Resolution to officially divide Israel, proposed to be pushed through before Donald Trump is sworn in on January 20th.  Michael Snyder had significant comment and postulation concerning the gravity of this possibility.  In a further article, he posits that this move will spark a major Mideast war, not unlike what globalists have wanted for more than a century.

I suspect that if the UN declares that Jerusalem, and particularly the Old City, is to be given to the Palestinians, the very thing that Obama and Kerry seem to be trying to orchestrate before January 20th, Israel will not be very compliant and the result is going to be BIG trouble and intervention by God Himself.

Indeed, Jerusalem has become a cup of trembling.  It is now a dividing line that those who stand against her will be standing with the world and, indeed, against the Almighty Himself!!  The ride is going to get considerably more rough.  Choose you this day Whom you will serve…  Man’s agenda or God’s eternal covenant?
