Update on Scott Hillman and some thoughts…

Truly, we serve a magnificent God and are blessed to be alive at a most amazing time in history.  I can honestly tell you, right now is as pregnant for prophecy fulfilling times as the first century was when Yeshua

came.  We are most definitely seeing the unfolding of Biblical history/prophecy!!

The sheer volume of hits and interest in following the Scott Hillman story attest to the times we live in.  The original video I put up, less than three weeks ago, has garnered more than 22,000 hits, three times more than the next most viewed post on my blog.  A couple follow-on posts have also drawn quite a bit of attention, particularly the prayer request yesterday.

Scott and his wife are still processing yesterday’s meeting with District Leadership, but he sent me a short email expressing praise to our Father and his joy that “the council was very fair and we had a great and lively discussion.”  He continued that they expressed a commitment to understand River of Praise Fellowship and their commitment to Yehovah’s Torah!

This, dear reader, is monumentally good news!  That a denominational leadership council would be willing to even consider understanding a position that runs counter to 1800 years of Christian doctrine is astounding.  But, Scott and the AoG are not alone.  I have heard similar rumblings from within the Southern Baptist Convention…  We are about to experience a paradigm shift within Christendom more cataclysmic than Martin Luther’s Ninety-five Theses.  Only, today there are hundreds of thousands of committed Martin Luthers who are walking out YHVH’s Torah in grace and peace and are prepared to make a very solid defense from Scripture for the Everlasting unchanging Word of our King.

Paradigm shifts do not, by definition happen slowly.  Much like a giant earthquake, pressure builds and builds while opposing plates slowly move against each other until, like a giant rubber band, they snap forward with immense energy to their new position.  Oh, there are small warning tremors, but nothing like the big one when the whole world changes in an instant.

More than forty years ago the Messianic movement began to ‘get legs’ and make small waves, but it was largely marginalized and ignored by mainstream Christianity as some passing fad.  In the last decade as it has gathered further steam and maturity, numbers and teachers have been steadily growing and Abba has been opening eyes at an increasing pace.  Now, in the final stages before a monster paradigm-shift, a 9.0 theological earthquake, denominational leadership is willing to stop and take a hard look at inherited doctrines as compared to everlasting Scripture.  Earth shaking!!

My experience just four years ago was markedly different.  I met two pastors from my denomination at a restaurant so we could have a discussion about my Torah awakening.  They knew the subject matter in advance, yet I was the only one to bring a Bible to lunch.  Weeks later, as I stood before the ordination committee of this conservative Presbyterian denomination, I asked to defend myself from Scripture and they said, ‘we only want to know if you disagree with the Westminster Confession of faith.’  They specifically declined looking at Scripture!!  They allowed their doctrinal statement to hold sway over Scripture.

15 Then some Pharisees and scribes *came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?

I know many pastors who have received similar treatment by their peers.  In fact, last week, I received an email from a friend who began to see the truth of Torah about eight months ago.  He was handed his ‘walking papers’ a few days ago and is now looking for a job.  (Keep him in prayer.)  Still, what I have seen recently in a couple denominations and at various levels of ministry, concerning a willingness to take a hard look at the Messianic perspective, is very encouraging.  It signals that just maybe we are approaching that monumental paradigm shift prophesied in Scripture where, in the latter days,

19 O Lord, my strength and my stronghold,
And my refuge in the day of distress,
To You the nations will come
From the ends of the earth and say,
“Our fathers have inherited nothing but falsehood,
Futility and [a]things of no profit.”
20 Can man make gods for himself?
Yet they are not gods!

21 “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—
This time I will make them know
My [b]power and My might;
And they shall know that My name is Yehovah.”

Another encouragement in the midst of this story is the countless emails I have received from people asking where to find a fellowship like Scott’s.  Some even asked specifically for a ‘Messianic Assemblies of God’ church!  Talk about crazy!  People are HUNGRY for truth and Scripture says it so plainly!

Psalm 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness,
And Your Torah is truth.

Our battle for truth is not over.  In fact, we are much closer to the beginning than the end, but eyes are opening and Godly men who have not yet heard are willing to consider and wrestle with hard Scriptures.  I pray these gentlemen, before whom Scott stood, will take the time to really interact with Scott and hear not just his heart, but the heart of the father that beats within him.

Like Scott, each of us must be a humble, compassionate, willing vessel that brings truth into the lives of those around us. Speak what we are commanded to speak, then shut up and let the Spirit do what HE is doing!!

Scott thanks you for your prayers and asks for continued prayer support.  May much fruit come from his boldness.

When we lived in Israel, we met a young lady who told us her name was Advah. She went on to explain that it is the ripple that you get when you throw a pebble in a pond. Things can be very stagnant and still, until something penetrates the stillness. It doesn’t have to be an explosion … just a ripple will do!

My husband and I were AoG ministers; however, 20 years ago when we decided to make the change after years of seeking the truth, we did NOT receive understanding from the governing powers, and my husband turned in his credentials. It is so gratifying that 20 years later those of us on the front lines are finally seeing a crack in the exterior of the AoG and other denominations. Although we left, we became ordained under the Messianic Israel Alliance and led several difference home fellowships and congregations. Still, it would have been nice to have stayed in the the church and brought them along in our understanding.

Thank you – so very much! – for not presenting this as a battle between An Enlightened One vs. The Evil Religious Establishment. I have read through your posts and have not found the slimy inference of Scott Hillman being persecuted by these leaders. This has been the case in other circumstances throughout the years as the Hebraic roots of the faith have found expression in the modern day Church. These are our brothers in the Lord who are wrestling with purity in doctrinal areas that are still being developed, from what I gather in these posts. They deserve to be supported in prayer.

Any time something new is presented, sheep are unsettled. That isn’t a slur against them. It’s an observation about the nature of sheep. It is the responsibility of shepherds to strengthen one another and guide the sheep into the new seasons. These “new” seasons may actually be the ancient paths we’ve been pressing into, but if it is unfamiliar to the sheep it can still be unsettling.

My family has a long generational blessing of being shepherds. A true shepherd has a tender heart toward the sheep entrusted to them, as well as to other shepherds. There can never be an Us vs. Them mentality if we expect to do the work of the ministry and please The Great Shepherd. What is pleasing to Him is a heart that reflects His heart.

May The Great Shepherd be glorified in the proceedings and the outcome of this time of reasoning together. And may the Kingdom be advanced as a result!

I was thrilled to read about Scott and how G_d has worked in him. I too was a member of the AoG and met a Messianic Rabbi that G_d sent to our church. We fast became friends because I began hearing from G_d like never before and having visions… all of which have come to pass or are still in the process of… I have truly been blessed by meeting this Rabbi and learning Torah, the feasts etc… My eyes were opened to the word like never before and I have an even deeper seated love for my Father.
The other thing that totally amazed me is that G_d has really been impressing upon my heart to pray for the AoG but I did not know why until today! HOW EXCITING… to be brought to this realization for such a time as this… (the story of Esther is one of my favorite stories and made me fall deeper in love with the Lord).
I have also learned I may also be one of the “lost Jews” since I traced my family history back five generations and learned that every name in that family line is of jewish decent! This totally explains why I have felt such a deep connection to Israel and her people.
I would love a listing of the AoG churches that are becoming part of this great change… I will continue to pray… as directed by my Father in Heaven…
thank you for posting this and will continue to follow!!!
May G_d richly Bless you! in the name of Yeshua…
