Breaking Israel News (BIN) has a terrific article up this morning that delves in the Seder observance of Messianic and Hebrew roots believers. I appreciate Eliyahu, the author, giving us a fair shake and accurately reflecting our position, even if he is not entirely in agreement. I appreciate, too, that he uses a number of individuals to confirm various degrees and types of observances among our larger community.
It is very interesting to track BIN’s fascination with and coverage of Messianic and Hebrew roots believers as they exit the Church in droves as the Spirit leads them back to the ancient paths. BIN recognizes something deeply spiritual and prophetic is occurring and they are bravely willing to openly wrestle with it. We must walk in grace and humility sharing when given opportunity and letting the Ruach do His work!

Susan Conrad Gates from Indiana adopted many Jewish rituals as important aspects of her Christian observance, lighting Shabbat candles every week and observing Hanukkah. If Passover is only about freedom and not about atonement, when and on what basis did Isaiah think the sons of Israel where redeemed?

Agreed! What is interesting is that in Christendom Redemption is considered a personal thing and in Judaism Redemption is considered a corporate thing. The truth I believe is both.
Interestingly, personal redemption in the redeeming of the firstborn does require blood. And Israel is referred to as My first born and therefore requires blood. Remember, out of Egypt have I called my son?
The lamb is a sacrifice in that it stands in the place of the first born.

Pete, as usual, your insights are laser beams. The article was not, God forbid, intended to be critical, but to bring about an understanding of the deep and essential difference between Christian Seders and Jewish Seders. To be candid, it is a major difference that some Jews are uncomfortable with. For that reason, I felt it important to throw it on the table so we knew what to talk about.

Wow! Okay, so for you all, Christian seders are yesterday’s bread (or matzah). If you ask the average Jew how religious Christians view Judaism, they will use words like “Spanish Inquisition”, “Holocaust”, or others of that type. To see non-Jews loving mitzvoth gives me an entirely new appreciation fro God’s word.

We are still a small minority, but growing by leaps and bounds.
What I consider a wonderful blessing is to be alive in this generation that our fathers, yours and mine looked for. The portent of Moshiach. I am not surprised that it is happening, only that I get a front row seat or even a bit part in this act of Hashem’s plan of redemption. So glad to be watching/participating with you!
