Like most who are raised in Christendom, I grew up believing that Jesus came to ‘save His people from their sins.’ And, I was only partly right! Indeed, personal redemption is necessary for the Messiah’s mission, but it is not the primary focus of His prophesied ministry.
In recent weeks I have had the urge to go back and reread the Gospels with a new lens, that of Yeshua (Jesus) as the 
Restorer of the Tent of David.
Acts 1:6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
Over and over, the prophets foretold of a coming King who will sit on the throne of David and regather Israel, all 13 tribes, from the four corners of the earth. That King will teach Torah and make Israel into a great and glorious kingdom that will bless the earth and proclaim the wonders of Yehovah!
Perhaps, the single most dramatic and specific prophecy is
Ezekiel 37:24-28:
24 “My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances and keep My statutes and observe them. 25 They will live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they, and their sons and their sons’ sons, forever; and David My servant will be their prince forever. 26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever. 27 My dwelling place also will be with them; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. 28 And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.”’”
James, quoting the prophet Amos, spoke,
Acts 15:16 ‘After these things I will return,
And I will rebuild the [f]tabernacle of David which has fallen,
And I will rebuild its ruins,
And I will restore it,
17 So that the rest of [g]mankind may seek the Lord,
And all the Gentiles [h]who are called by My name,’
18 Says the Lord, who [i]makes these things known from long ago.
Psalm 2 and Isaiah 2 both specifically speak of the King on Mt. Zion, ruling with Torah, therefore, any mission He previously came for is only part of the final equation, a necessary stage, but not the sum total. Personal redemption or salvation is only a precursor to the greater act of corporate redemption and the regathering of all Israel.
Joel Richardson’s recent article in World Net Daily, titled What Christians Miss About the Gospel, delves into the topic of Yeshua’s ministry as it relates to literally fulfilling the plethora prophecies of a future great and glorious King and Kingdom. Truly, the whole earth will be filled with His glory and He will physically reign from Jerusalem and enforce Torah!
For those who understand this, the broad grassroots movement in Christendom to Torah observance comes as no surprise. Indeed, we are experiencing the move of the Spirit that prepares the way for our King.
