Here is a good article detailing the existence of Torah before Mt. Sinai. We have looked at this before, but there are a couple points in here I was not familiar with! I think the new material, or refreshment on the topic will help all of us!!
Shalom!
I especially liked the Lot footwashing/unleavened bread incident. Had not noticed that one before!

Wow! I never thought about Yahweh using the animal’s that were killed to cover Adam and Eve to teach about sin offering.

How does one decide which Scriptures to read, or what is the best version of the Bible? The debate last night on POT has me rethinking a lot of what I learned as a Reformed Baptist.

Frankly, NO Bible translation is perfect. I talk about that in my ‘Lying pen of the Scribes’ series.
There are some good ones (KJV, NASB, ESV come to mind), but all have mistranslations, translator bias and outright error. All of this can be hotly debated…
Best thing to do is make an end run and get all of them!! Plus, get the Greek and Hebrew interlinear and a pile of Concordances as well as multiple lexicons…
Oh, worried about the cost? Nah… Get them all for free!!
http://www.e-sword.net/index.html is a FREE program that is VERY powerful and easy to learn to use for all manner of study and searches. Different modules can be added for even more abilities.. some cost, some are free.
Here is the same program preset for those studying the Hebrew roots of their faith: http://www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/file/6755-hebrew-roots/
HIGHLY recommended. Almost can’t live without it! LOL!!

I have eSword and nearly 90 different Bibles. I like to look across verses using compare. What I need to do is get more physical copies. I have an KJV, a copy of The Scriptures, and Strong’s in physical form. I also want to get a copy of the Ancient Hebrew Lexicon books! Thanks for your feedback. I was hoping there would be one really good translation that I could use as my primary, but am undaunted at using more than one 🙂

Gotcha!
I read/study/carry/teach from the NASB, but have had it long enough to know where many of the errors/translator biases are. But really, likely won’t have the ‘perfect Bible’ until I can read and fully understand the Hebrew/Greek at least as well as I read/speak English. So, til then I wait…. Sigh.

Thank you all for the positive responses. I am already discovering a few things that will be going into a “Part 2” of the Pre-Sinaitic Torah article.
Also, in regards to the last post (about Bible translations), if I may, I would like to suggest the Shem Qadosh Version [SQV] which I have been working on for the past few months. You can get the free .pdf here: http://eklektostouyahweh.wordpress.com/shem-qadosh-version-of-scripture/
We do have plans to print the SQV, just trying to find a printer that will allows us to do short runs (only 10 or 15 at a time). Most want minimum orders of 500 or more.
Anyway, again, thank you for the positive responses. And thank you, Pete, for sharing. I must say, since you shared this, my blog has been blowing up with hits and new followers. Any way to get the Word out, right?

Hey!! We are all learning and growing together!! We may not all see the same things at the same time, but we can learn to walk in unity and fellowship as Abba takes us on this journey, right?
On the SQV, check with William Sanford of http://www.alephtavscriptures.com/ The company he is working with does ‘print on demand’ in runs of two or four if I am not mistaken.
Also, any way you can look into creating a module for e-sword with your work?
Shalom!!

Thank you. I’ve been on the AT website before, but never thought to ask about that. I am still working over the final “pieces” of the SQV, such as double and triple checking to make sure everything is translated as accurately as possible, and checking the grammar. I have sent an email to YouVersion (the most popular Bible app for iPhone and Android) and I intend to send an email to Biblehub.com as well. I had not thought of E-Sword, but I will look into it and see how to get it ported to E-Sword as well.

BTW, along the lines of shares and follows: The average reader out there has BIG impact if they will selectively facebook and share articles. They may not be writing, but they can help get the word out by being willing to take a public stand.

Maybe this “sin offering” was what was mentioned in Galatians 3rd chapter as the thing added 430 years after the promise? Was this also part of the “change” in the Law that the book of Hebrews talks about? Much more to the story for sure.

How are you, my friend?

That is very close to what I think. I actually have a related article in the works at the moment on this subject, primarily to address Paul’s words in Galatians on the subject.

Just to sort of follow up on the E-Sword thing, I have begun the process of creating an E-Sword module for the Shem Qadosh Version [SQV] which will hopefully be ready in a couple of weeks. From that, I should be able to migrate to MySword (for Android) and E-Sword HD (for iOS devices). Still no word from YouVersion.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Once it is released and debugged, let me know and I’ll roll the info into an esword or similar post.
